The FIU Golden Panthers will be looking for their first win of the year this upcoming Saturday afternoon when they travel to Heinz Field to take on the Pitt Panthers in a Sun Belt- Big East matchup. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN3.com.

Florida International has had a rough go of it so far this season with a couple of tough losses in games it could have very easily have won. The Golden Panthers fell to Rutgers in their home opener 19-14 as a 14 ½ point underdog. They led by one heading into the fourth quarter but could not respond after the Scarlet Knights went up by five with 13 minutes left to play.

The following week was even worse as FIU blew a 20-6 lead against Texas A & M heading into the final quarter, giving up 21 unanswered points in a 27-20 loss. The Golden Panthers were a 28 ½ point road underdog in this game.

Last week they were tied with Maryland at 21 with five minutes left to play in the third quarter before once again collapsing down the stretch in a 42-28 loss. FIU failed to even cover the spread as a 10 point road underdog. NFL Betting

Pittsburgh opened the season with a heart breaking 27-24 OT loss to Utah as a three point road underdog. The Panthers rallied from an 11 point deficit to force overtime, but a Tino Sunseri interception on the first play of the extra period set up a 21 yard game-winning field goal by the Utes.

The Panthers bounced back with a 38-16 win over IAA New Hampshire, but was thoroughly embarrassed last Thursday night in an ugly 31-3 loss to No. 19 Miami (FL). Pitt came into the game against the Hurricanes as a four point home underdog but could not generate any offense against a suffocating Miami defense. The Hurricanes ended the night with five sacks, nine tackles for losses, and three forced turnovers.

FIU is 2-8 straight up in its last 10 games and 3-7 against the spread. The Golden Panthers are 0-5 SU and 1-4 ATS in their last five road games. The total has stayed ‘under’ in six of their last 10 games.

Pittsburgh is 6-4 SU in its last 10 games but just 2-4 in its last six. ATS, the Panthers are 5-4-1 in their last 10 and 2-3-1 in their last six. They are 5-2 SU and 3-4 ATS in their last seven games at home. The total has stayed ‘under’ in six of their last 10 games.

For the most part, FIU has been able to play everyone close this season but has been unable to avoid the mental breakdowns in the fourth quarter that have cost them the game. I would expect pretty much the same story in this game as the Golden Panthers find a way to keep it close enough to cover the 20 points but still fail to get their first win of the year.

Betting Trends:

Florida International is 0-5 SU in its last 5 games on the road
Pittsburgh is 10-2 SU in its last 12 games at home
Pittsburgh is 11-5 SU in its last 16 games
Florida International is 0-5 SU in its last 5 games
Pittsburgh is 2-4 SU in its last 6 games

The Pick – Florida International +20
