The No. 19 Miami Hurricanes blow into Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, PA to take on the Pitt Panthers in an ACC-Big East matchup this Thursday night with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Fortunately for Miami  (1-1)it had a week off to recover from a very physical 36-24 loss to No. 2 Ohio State on Sept. 11 in a game it came in as an eight point road underdog. The Hurricanes repeatedly shot themselves in the foot, committing turnovers and mistakes that never enabled them to keep the game close. They will look to clean up their act against a Pitt team that does not present nearly as many challenges as the Buckeyes did.

The first thing that needs to be corrected is the sloppy ball handling and poor decisions by Miami QB Jacory Harris. His four interceptions, especially one that ended a scoring chance that would have closed the gap to just two points early in the third quarter, were just too much for this offense to overcome. Dating back to last season, Harris has now thrown 12 interceptions and just five TD’s in the Hurricanes last five losses.

RB Damien Berry had a fairly productive game against the Buckeyes, rushing for 94 yards on 16 carries for a 5.9 average yards per carry. Look for Berry and the running game to be a big part of Miami’s game plan against the Panthers. NFL Betting

Pittsburgh (1-1) is coming off a bye week as well after pounding out a 38-16 win over New Hampshire two weeks ago as a 29 ½ point home favorite. This game followed a bitter opening day 27-24 OT loss to Utah that knocked the Panthers from the ranks of the top 25. Pittsburgh was a three point road underdog despite being ranked No. 15 at the time.

The Panthers are led by QB Tino Sunseri, who has completed 64.5 percent of his passes for 459 yards and three TD’s in their first games. RB Ray Graham has been an early force, gaining 115 yards on just nine carries and scoring two TD’s. RB Dion Lewis has been the workhorse, leading the team with 35 carries for 102 yards. Expect Pitt to try and establish the run early in this game in order to open up some opportunities for Sunseri to take a few shots deep downfield.

Miami is 6-4 straight up in its last 10 games but just 4-6 against the spread. The Hurricanes are 3-1 SU and 2-2 ATS in their last four games on the road.

Pittsburgh is 7-3 SU in its last 10 games and is 5-4-1 ATS over the same course of games. The Panthers are 6-1 SU in their last seven games at home but just 4-3 ATS.

These two teams played each other almost every year when Miami was still part of the Big East, but they have not met since 2003 when Miami came away with a 28-14 win as a three point road favorite. Turning to Thursday night’s matchup, the Pitt defense should be able to keep this one close, but in the end Miami finds a way to pull away enough to cover the 3 ½ points.

Betting Trends:
Miami is 8-4 SU in its last 12 games
Miami is 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games on the road
Pittsburgh is 10-1 SU in its last 11 games at home
Pittsburgh is 11-4 SU in its last 15 games
Pittsburgh is 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games when playing Miami
Pittsburgh is 1-4 SU in its last 5 games when playing at home against Miami
Miami is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games when playing Pittsburgh
Miami is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games when playing on the road against Pittsburgh

The Pick: Miami -3 ½.
