Toledo (1-0) at No. 15 Ohio State (1-0) Gambling Preview + Predictions
Luke Fickell started his Ohio State coaching career off with a big 42-0 win over Akron last week. The entire Ohio State program was thrilled to get back on the field and have the talk be about the team and its ability rather than off-the-field issues.
The Buckeyes will host another Mid American Conference opponent this week. Toledo is a much better team than Akron, and the Rockets are probably the class of the MAC this year.

Toledo vs. OSU ATS Gambling Stats –>
This will definitely be a better test for Ohio State than last weekend.
Toledo throttled New Hampshire 58-22 last week. The Rockets amassed a staggering 591 yards of total offense. Austin Dantin threw three touchdowns and no picks, while backup Terrance Owens threw two touchdowns and no interceptions. Both of these veteran quarterbacks are great options for Toledo offensively. Dantin and Owens both know the offense extremely well, and they both make great decisions with the football. Adonis Thomas ran the ball nine times for 115 yards, and he also caught the ball four times out of the backfield. Eric Page might be the most electrifying player in the MAC. Page can change the game with his kick/punt return skills, and he also is a very good wide receiver. Defensively, the front seven for Toledo is very talented. The Rockets secondary allowed more yards than any other team in the MAC last year, but they did intercept 20 passes. Toledo should have a very good season in the MAC this year, but Ohio State will certainly be a huge test for this team.
Ohio State fans had to like what they saw out of their two quarterbacks last week. Joe Bauserman was 12 for 16 passing for three touchdowns and no interceptions. Braxton Miller, the highly touted freshman quarterback, came in and threw for 130 yards. [soliloquy id=”82219″]
The Buckeyes will have Jordan Hall back at the tailback spot this week. He missed last week’s game due to a violation of team rules. Carlos Hyde and Rod Smith both looked like good runners as well. The Buckeyes offensive line is a real area of strength this season. Jake Stoneburner caught three touchdown passes last week. The Buckeyes really need a reliable pass catcher, and Stoneburner appears ready to take on that role. The Ohio State defense only allowed 90 total yards last week, but Akron’s offense is terrible. It’s tough to read too much into that performance, but it is clear that the Buckeyes have a solid defense again this season. While Ohio State does have more question marks than they have had in the past, this is still a team loaded with tons of talent.
Toledo strikes me as a team that should be able to put up some points against just about everyone they play this year. Ohio State should be able to move the ball very effectively against an undersized Toledo defense. I think the total is set a little too low here.
