NCAAF Week 11 Analysis – LSU Tigers vs. Alabama Crimson Tide

The #1 Alabama Crimson Tide (9-0 SU, 6-3 ATS) will try to keep their BCS National Championship hopes alive this week with a trip to the Bayou to take on Nick Saban’s former squad, the LSU Tigers (6-2 SU, 2-5 ATS).

Alabama has had a magical sports betting season with blowout wins against Top 10 ranked Clemson and Georgia where it easily covered the college football gambling odds. Meanwhile, LSU has had a somewhat disappointing season, with two big losses to Georgia and Florida that knocked it out of repeating as national champions.

So far this season, Alabama has been extremely good away from the friendly confines of Bryant-Denny Stadium with a 4-0 NCAA football betting record both SU and ATS. Saban has gotten it done the old fashioned way, something Bear Bryant would be proud of, with a stingy defense and a strong ground game. Crimson Tide bettors have watched the Crimson Tide become the SEC’s best rushing attack and have seen Saban’s bunch average over 205 yards per game on the ground to go along with 22 touchdowns.

Alabama fans have also been privileged to watch one of the best defenses in the country, which now stands the second best defense in the SEC. With a stop unit that allows an average of just 12.2 PPG and just 251.4 yards per game, it comes as no surprise that NCAA football gamblers that prefer to wager on college football games to go ‘under’ the ‘total’ have cashed their last four tickets in games involving the Crimson Tide.

With the dismissal of star recruit QB Ryan Perrilloux, many LSU fans expected their team to struggle offensively but the Tigers offense hasn’t been the problem as much as the Tigers defense has been. LSU’s defense is currently second to last in the conference; giving up 23.9 PPG while its offense has been second best in the SEC averaging 32.5 PPG.

With those numbers, one would expect the ‘over’ to cash at a decent rate, and indeed they have with four of the last six Tigers games combining to go ‘over’ the ‘total’ per the closing NCAA football wagering lines. RB Charles Scott has been the heart and soul of the offense with 132 carries for 889 yards and 11 touchdowns. Coming into this game, LSU is 1-5 ATS per the NCAA odds over its last six home games against Alabama.

Current NCAAF betting trends tell us that the Crimson Tide are 8-2 ATS over their last 10 games on the road against a team with a winning home record, LSU is 3-9-1 ATS in its L/13 SEC games, and the road team is 10-1-1 ATS in the last 12 meetings between these two SEC powerhouses.

NCAA gambling odds find the Crimson Tide sitting as a 3.5-point road favorites in this game with a game ‘total’ of 47.5 points. You can wager on this game and all other SEC games at BetUS Sportsbook.
