No. 16 Texas Longhorns vs. Missouri Tigers NCAAF Lines

Venue / Stadium Faurot Field, COLUMBIA, MO

Texas has won 2 straight and the main reason is their 11th ranked rushing offense that has racked up over 400 yards on the ground in each game. Missouri is under .500 and they have lost 2 of their last 3 games, but all of their losses this season have come to teams that are currently ranked or have been in the top 25 this season.

No. 16 Texas Longhorns vs. Missouri Tigers Preview

NCAAF lines have Texas as a slight 1.5-point away favorite with a total of 58.5.

In their last games Missouri lost to Baylor 42-39 and Texas crushed Texas Tech 52-20.

Missouri has the nation’s 60th ranked run defense, but they may not have to deal with Texas’ leading rusher in Malcolm Brown, who is questionable with an injury. Still they have to deal with Joe Bergeron, who has rushed for 327 yards in his last 2 games, and Fozzy Whittaker, who combined to rush for 174 yards last week.

The Texas rushing offense is the key in this game, as since Garrett Gilbert went out with a season ending injury the Longhorns have been using the young QB duo of David Ash and Case McCoy. However, Mizzou has struggled against the pass this season and overall their defense has given up over 500 yards in each of their last 3 games.

Mizzou has a pretty balanced offensive attack ranking 12th in the nation in rushing yards per game and 37th in passing yards per game. RB Henry Josey is the Big 12 leading rusher and will be facing a Texas run defense that is solid and ranks 9th in the nation. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Texas gave up a lot of passing yards even though they won big last week and their 51st pass defense has a tall task in this game trying to contain Mizzou QB James Franklin, who has a solid WR corps and passed for a career high 325 yards with 5 TD and also 57 rushing yards in the loss to Baylor last week.

Mizzou has been crushed in their last 3 home games facing Texas getting out-scored 127-43.

Betting Trends

This season Texas is 5-3 ATS and has an O/U record of 4-3-1 and Mizzou is 5-4 ATS and has an O/U record of 6-3.

Texas is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games as a favorite, 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games following a ATS win, and has an Over record of 4-1 in their last 5 road games.

Mizzou is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games as a home underdog, 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games against teams with a winning road record, and has an Under record of 4-1 in their last 5 home games.

Jason’s Pick: Texas has covered the spread in 4 of their last 5 games against Mizzou, but I think trend will not continue this Saturday. I have a feeling Mizzou will play well and not allow the Longhorns to dominate the game on the ground. Take the Tigers to win and take the Over as well, as I still think this game will be a high scoring one.
