Bowling Green reeled off two straight wins to start the season over Idaho and Morgan State, but came up short against Wyoming in a tough 28-27 loss as a 9.5-point home favorite. The Falcons bounced back last week with a big 37-23 conference win over Miami (Ohio) as four-point road underdogs. The total has gone ‘over’ in their last three games.

Quarterback Matt Schilz leads a passing attack that is averaging over 300 yards a game, ranking it 21st in the nation. Wide receivers Eugene Cooper and Kamar Jorden have done most of the damage with a combined 47 catches for 640 yards and 10 touchdowns. The Falcons are averaging 38.5 points a game while giving up just 19.8 points a game.

West Virginia had its shot at glory last week but came up woefully short in a 47-21 loss to No.2 LSU as a 5.5-point home underdog. The Mountaineers trailed by just seven points in the third quarter, but gave up 20 unanswered points down the stretch. They are now 3-1 straight-up (1-3 against the spread) on the year. The total has gone ‘over’ in their last three games as well. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

The collapse against the Tigers has been indicative of a West Virginia defense that gave up 31 points to Maryland the week before and is ranked 68th in the country in points allowed. Offensively, the Mountaineers are ranked third in the nation in passing yards with an average of 382.8 yards a game, but ranked near the bottom of Division-IA in rushing with a total of 306 yards on the ground in their first four games.

Bowling Green is 5-5 ATS in its last 10 games and the total has stayed ‘under’ in six of those games. West Virginia is 4-5-1 ATS in its last 10 games and the total has gone ‘over’ in five of its last seven games. The best bet in this matchup could be the ‘over’ as you get the feeling that both offenses should be able to move the ball up and down the field. West Virginia will walk away with the win, but take the Falcons to cover with the 20.5 points.

The Pick: West Virginia 38   Bowling Green 21
