Florida A&M opened its season with a 28-22 victory over D-II Fort Valley State, but faltered last week against Hampton in a 23-17 loss. There were no posted lines on either of these games. Playing out of the MEAC, the Rattlers are coming off an 8-3 record overall last season, including a 7-1 record in the conference.

Quarterback Austin Trainor looked sharp against the Wildcats in the opener with 348 yards passing and two touchdowns, but he could not get anything going last week against the Pirates. He went 18-for-36 for a total of 109 yards. The Rattlers running game was somewhat more effective with 127 yards on 28 attempts.

South Florida got off to a great start with a 23-20 upset over Notre Dame as a 10.5-point road underdog. The total stayed ‘under’ the 47-point total. Last week, the Bulls ran roughshod over Ball State in a 37-7 victory as 20-point home favorites. The total stayed ‘under’ in this game as well. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Quarterback B.J. Daniels has led the way, completing 66.7 percent of his throws for 487 yards and two TD’s. His primary receiver has been Sterling Griffin, who has 12 receptions for 127 yards. The Bulls’ ground game has also been effective, led by Darrell Scott and Demetris Murray, who have combined for over 200 yards in the first two games.

The South Florida defense was suspect against the Irish, giving up a total of 508 yards, including 391 yards through the air. It was able to tighten things up last week, holding the Cardinals to just 225 yards of total offense.

There is no current line on this game, but if one is released you can rest assured the Bulls will be heavy double-digit favorites, especially at home. The Rattlers are way out of their league in a game that will most likely be decided by halftime.
