Iowa St. Cyclones vs. Texas Longhorns Free Gambling Prediction & Week 11 Preview

ISU vs Texas NCAA Football Spread/Handicapping

The Cyclones were not totally embarrassed against Oklahoma last week. The game wasn’t really close but they kept it reasonbly respectable. They are still looking for their 6th win but it is going to be hard to get it this weekend.

Iowa State

Iowa State is 1-8 in their last nine against Texas but oddly enough stole a win the last time they were in Austin.  I don’t know for sure but I am guessing they have never done that twice in a row.

Iowa State has been a pretty good road team this year already having beaten TCU and Iowa.  This is a decent spot for the Cyclones because they play good defense and the Longhorns offense can be unpredictable.  I would love to see more out of QB Steele Jantz and the offense which is what makes me nervous backing Iowa State.  Although the Texas D has been shredded on a few occasions already it has been by teams more proficient than ISU.

Iowa State has been a 50/50 proposition against the number this year with a 4-4-1 record ATS.  On the road they have 2 upset wins good for a 2-1 record both SU and ATS.  Texas looked rejuvenated last week and the Cyclones a little flat last week so this number might be inflated a little on the ISU side.  Still I don’t trust the Cyclones to mount consistent effort, especially with their game against Kansas being important next week to get that 6th win.

Texas

Texas is looking to finish the season strong.  After back to back losses to WVU and Oklahoma they have won three in a row including a road victory in Lubbock against a ranked Red Raiders team.  They finish the season at Kansas State which if they win could mean big things depending on how things shake out.   [soliloquy id=”82219″]

First they have to complete the home portion of their season with games against ISU this week and TCU next.

Last week against a statistically good Texas Tech defense QB David Ashe had a nice efficient game throwing for more than 260 yards on just 11 completions.  100 of those yards came on TD passes to speedy receiver Mike Davis who again should be able to find room against an ISU defense that is 113th in the nation against the pass.  Freshman Jonathan Gray also seems to be gathering steam for Texas with back to back 100 yard games.  This team might finally be coming together.

I like the Longhorns to be able to overwhelm the Cyclones this week.  They are definitely the more talented team and at this stage of the season their depth and dominance should lead to an impressive performance.  Look for Texas to jump on top early and have this one locked up by halftime.

Spread Pick: Texas -10
