Miami’s season has been littered with disappointment with a 5-5 straight-up record that includes a 23-19 loss to another in-state rival, Florida State this past Saturday as an 11-point road underdog. It is now 6-4 against the spread and the total has gone ‘over’ in six of its 10 games.

The Hurricanes have struggled to move the ball consistently this season both through the air and on the ground as they are ranked 49th in the country in scoring with an average of 29.5 points a game. The only saving grace has been a defense that has been able to hold its opponents to an average of 21.4 points a game.

South Florida comes into this game with a 5-4 SU (4-5 ATS) record overall, but posted just its first conference win in the Big East against four losses with a 37-17 victory over Syracuse as a three-point road favorite this past Friday night. The total went ‘over’ the 52-point line and has now gone ‘over’ in five of the nine games this year. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

The Bulls have been a bit more productive on offense with an average of 265.4 passing yards a game and 205.2 yards per game on the ground. They are averaging 33 points a game and giving-up an average of 22.4 points.

The Hurricanes are just 2-5 ATS in their last seven non-conference games and the total has stayed ‘under’ in 17 of their last 22 games against the Big East.

The Bulls are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games against the ACC and the total has stayed ‘under’ in 10 of their last 13 non-conference games.

These two have split the last two years with Miami winning 31-10 as a 3.5-point road favorite in 2009 and South Florida coming away with the 23-20 win in overtime last season as a 13-point road underdog. The total stayed ‘under’ in both games. This time around, stick with the Hurricanes to salvage some pride from an otherwise dismal season with a solid road win that covers the point and a half.

The Pick: Miami 27 vs. South Florida 21
