Central Florida has some big wins under their belt this season, and also impressed plenty of onlookers in their lone loss of the season, which came against then No. 12 South Carolina. Most recently, the team beat Connecticut, 62-17.

That game could have been a lot more lopsided than it was, as the Knights scored 45 points in the first half. Quarterback Blake Bortles didn’t play the entire game but got his shots in while he was on the field. He completed 20 of 24 passes for 286 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. He also ran the ball twice for 26 yards and a touchdown. Receiver Jeff Godfrey was the favorite target of Knights quarterbacks in the game, hauling in six passes for 54 yards and three touchdowns. Standout running back Storm Johnson wasn’t around long either, but he was able to turn 12 touches into 44 yards and a pair of touchdowns before exiting.

The team’s defense had a little more trouble than they would have liked with Connecticut running back Lyle McCombs, who ran the ball 14 times for 88 yards and a score, but the Huskies weren’t able to accomplish much else. Quarterback Tim Boyle completed just seven of 21 passes for 47 yards with two interceptions before being replaced.

Houston’s last game could have been made a little better with a wider margin, although they did witness one of South Florida’s better efforts in a 35-23 win. The look ahead factor was surely a factor for Houston, but quarterback John O’Korn made sure the game wasn’t a complete disaster, completing 22 of 27 passes for 263 yards and three touchdowns. He did best when getting the ball to Deontay Greenberry, who hauled in four balls for 106 yards and a score. The team’s running game wasn’t all that impressive, although running back Ryan Jackson was able to turn 10 carries into 54 yards and a score.

The team’s defense had a little more trouble with South Florida’s passing attack than they probably should have. Mike White completed 26 of 41 passes for 311 yards and two touchdowns with an interception. The bright spot for the unit was their ability to stop the run. The Bulls rushed the ball just 34 times, with an average of 1.6 yards per carry, and a long run of eight yards.

Neither team has any trouble scoring and with so much on the line it’s difficult to imagine both coaches leaving anything in the playbook. Expect plenty of points in what will be an exciting affair between two teams looking to establish dominance in their new conference.

The over is 4-0 in the last four meetings between these teams.
