This game won’t even be close, but the question is whether or not Alabama can cover the massive spread.

Georgia State

Georgia State is the kind of team that will go unnoticed by most casual fans. In fact, even a number of avid football goers will be asking themselves who this team is entering Week 6.

For the Panthers, this game isn’t about getting a win; it’s about standing strong and gaining experience in a hostile environment. The team is 0-4 so far this season, and that’s after winning just one contest in 2012.

The good news for the Panthers is that they’re 2-2 ATS up to this point. The team has a clear-cut No. 1 receiving option in Albert Wilson, who has caught four of the five touchdown passes from starting quarterback Ronnie Bell. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Keeping up with Alabama is a tough task for any team in the country, but with a 54.5-point spread on the table, Georgia State must hope for mercy in the second half.

Alabama

For the Crimson Tide, it’s business as usual. Star safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix has been suspended by the team for this week’s meeting, but I’d be shocked if the top team in the country even blinked against Georgia State.

The bigger problem is that his backup, Nick Perry, is also out after season-ending shoulder surgery. This could be problematic down the road, but again, expect business as usual against the Panthers.

Alabama is coming off of an impressive performance against Ole Miss. The Crimson Tide shut out a team that had been averaging 38 points per game, and it scored 25 points of its own in the process.

Against Georgia State, the only question is whether or not Alabama can cover the spread. Nick Saban isn’t afraid to put points up against his opponents, but at the same time, expect to see a lot of time from the second, third and fourth stringers.

Alabama may be the best team in the country according to the rankings, but don’t be shocked if the Panthers win the spread on this one. Their ATS victory will have nothing to do with their own performance, as they’ll struggle the entire way; it will have everything to do with Alabama’s reluctance to leave in its starters.

Expect a blowout, but be hesitant when giving a 54.5-point spread to a team that is averaging 35 points on the year.

Score Prediction: Alabama 45 – Georgia State 0
