This game is a classic defense vs. offense game, as Georgia has a great offense that ranks 8th in the nation in ppg and South Carolina ranks 6th in the nation on defense. NCAAF lines have South Carolina as a slight 1-point home favorite with a total of 54.

In their last games Georgia beat Tennessee 51-44 and South Carolina beat Kentucky 38-17.

On the season Georgia is 2-3 ATS with an Over/Under record of 5-0 and South Carolina is 4-1 ATS with an Over/Under record of 3-2.

Georgia is stacked on offense with QB Andy Murray, a great WR corps, and 2 freshman RB’s that each have over 420 rushing yards and each averaging over 7 yards per carry. However, while they are deep at the WR position leading receiver Michael Bennett tore his ACL in practice this week and is out for the season.

South Carolina has a great run defense, ranks 47th in the nation in passing offense, and they have the 2nd most sacks in the nation behind star DE Jadeveon Clowney. The Georgia offensive line must play well in this game protecting Murray from a great pass rush and also opening up holes for the rushing attack.

The Bulldogs committed 3 turnovers in the Tennessee game and they cannot let that happen again facing such a good South Carolina defense. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

South Carolina is led by their D, but their offense is solid and they rank 34th in the nation in ppg. Connor Shaw has passed for 571 yards with 5 TD and 2 INT and his top 2 targets are averaging over 17 yards per catch. Shaw also needs his offensive line to play well facing the solid Bulldogs pass rush led by LB Jarvis Jones, who ranks 2nd in the SEC in tackles behind the line of scrimmage.

Marcus Lattimore had his 2nd 100+ yard rushing game last week against Kentucky and he has to be a concern for the Georgia rushing D that ranks 57th in the nation and gave up 197 rushing yards in the win over Tennessee.

In some betting trends for this big SEC game Georgia is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS loss, 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games, and they have an Over record of 7-0 in their last 7 games.

South Carolina is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games, 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a SU win of more than 20 points, and they have an Under record of 5-2 in their last 7 SEC games.

Jason’s Pick: I have to go with the team with the good defense, as I think the Gamecocks’ D will play well and their offense will also score just enough points to win a close game.

Its going to be close but your conclusion is flawed. Georgia is a slightly better team period. And when you say SC has a better defense your just plain wrong. When you run the numbers the Dawgs should win by a field goal at about 27-24.
