LSU has been one of the better teams in college football and have only lost once this season. They will look for a little revenge after being beat by the Gators, 14-6, in the Swamp last year.

The Tigers will also hope home field advantage plays in their favor — as they last won in Baton Rouge in 2009.

With Tyler Murphy under center, the Gators have looked good and are averaging 25 points and 393 yards per game.

Murphy, who replaced injured starter Jeff Driskell, has been a huge part of the UF offensive success, completing a prolific 72 percent of his passes with five touchdowns and just a single interception, while rushing for nearly six yards per carry and two touchdowns. But he’s facing by far his toughest test in Death Valley. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

He will need a little help from his rushing corps in getting by a stingy Tigers defense that is allowing just 24 points and 367 yards per game with five interceptions, 10 sacks and four fumble recoveries, but ranks 33 in the nation in rushing defense.

Meanwhile, the Tigers offense is rolling behind quarterback Zach Mettenberger and is averaging almost 46 points per game. But putting up those kind of numbers against a Florida defense that ranks No. 5 at 12.2 PPG, is not going to be easy.

The Gators D is only giving up 217 yards per game with eight interceptions, three fumble recoveries and 11 sacks.

Nevertheless, the Tigers have five wins thus far, and a big part of that is the team’s ability to roll up real estate, averaging 489 yards per game.

Mettenberger has completed 68 percent of his passes with 15 touchdowns and two interceptions, while running back Jeremy Hill is averaging 7.5 yards per carry with nine touchdowns.

And it’s not just the Tigers’ rushing attack that is driving the offense. In their last game, LSU’s aerial attack generated 340 yards and the Tigers came away with a 59-26 victory over Mississippi State at Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field.

Matt’s Free Prediction

A touchdown spread is lot in a game of potent offenses and stifling defenses.

The Florida defense has been tough to crack, but I think LSU has the talent to do it.

LSU 28, Florida 24
