Free Online NCAA Football Picks & Week 1 CFB Gambling Selections

Our look ahead to Week 1 of the 2011 NFL season continues with NFL betting picks for four more early games.

Week 1 of the college football season fast approaches and lines are finally up for all the games after we were stuck picking from six games for a couple weeks.

Here are some more picks to try.

TCU Horned Frogs @ Baylor Bears
Friday, September 2, 8:00 p.m. ET
Week 1 NCAA football gambling favorite: TCU -6.5

TCU and Baylor have a storied rivalry – though it hasn’t been much in recent years. The Horned Frogs embarrassed Baylor 45-10 last year and have won the last three meetings by a combined score of 89-17. Ouch.

Week 1 NCAA Football Gambling Odds

Baylor is optimistic that this season will be different and thinks TCU is vulnerable now that Casey Pachall must take over for Andy Dalton at the new starting quarterback. They think they can put a scare in TCU’s D with a dynamic quarterback like Robert Griffin III. But TCU had the country’s top defense a year ago. Yeah, Pachall will have a learning curve, but people forget that the Horned Frogs were 13th in the nation in rushing last season, averaging 246.8 yards per game. They’ll find a way to score on Baylor and win by a touchdown or more.

Pick: TCU -6.5

BYU Cougars @ Mississippi Rebels
Saturday, September 3, 4:45 p.m. ET
Week 1 NCAA football gambling favorite: BYU -2.5

BYU’s life as an independent begins with a road trip to Mississippi on September 3. The Cougars are certainly equipped to make noise. They came on like gangbusters once quarterback Jake Heaps got a firm grip on the starting job late last season, averaging 42.4 points and 469 yards over their last five games. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Mississippi has bragged about its recruiting class endlessly. But does that not tell us that Ole Miss is sort of rebuilding right now? I like its running game with Brandon Bolden but I don’t know if the Rebels’ defense, which ranked 83rd in the country last season, can keep BYU off the board.

Pick: BYU -2.5

Colorado Buffaloes @ Hawaii Warriors
Saturday, September 3, 10:15 p.m. ET
Week 1 NCAA football gambling favorite: Hawaii -6

This matchup features two teams with plenty to prove. Colorado wants to establish itself as something other than an afterthought in its new conference, the Pac-12. Hawaii is hoping to finally challenge for WAC title now that Boise State has vacated.

It’s gonna be a long season for Colorado. The Buffaloes get only five home games and go 13 straight without a bye at one point. They’ll be fresh against Hawaii but their 110th-ranked pass defense could get absolutely torched by Hawaii pivot Bryant Moniz, who threw for 5,040 yards last season.

Hawaii did lose to Colorado last season – at Colorado. I think the Warriors will be hungry to avenge that defeat. It may not be a total blowout but I think Hawaii can cover the six points. Remember, Colorado also has to break in a new coach, as John Embree takes over after working as an assistant coach with the Washington Redskins.

Pick: Hawaii -6
