Every win counts for this undefeated program, and that won’t change with the San Jose State Spartans up next.

Fresno State

Fresno State clinched a spot in the MWC championship game last weekend, but the team is far from satisfied. On the season, the squad is averaging the fifth-most points of any team in the country (46.8 per contest), which is going to be a problem for a San Jose defense that is 100th in the nation.

In last week’s outing against New Mexico, quarterback Derek Carr exploded for 527 yards and seven touchdowns. As impressive as that mark is, it’s the diverse group of receivers that continues to make this team dangerous.

Davanta Adams, Josh Harper and Isaiah Burse each had over 100 yards receiving, with Adams leading the way with 246 and four scores.

The Bulldogs’ attack through the air has been unstoppable this season—as evidenced by their perfect record—and if that theme can hold true for two more games, the team has a strong chance of finishing ahead of Northern Illinois when the regular season comes to a close.

San Jose State

Like Fresno State, the Spartans have had a dangerous pass attack all season. They are ninth in the country in yards per game through the air, and they nearly outlasted the heavy ground game of Navy in triple-overtime last week.

The difference between these two teams is points. Fresno State has had virtually no trouble putting the ball in the end zone, while the Spartans are just 63rd in the nation in points scored per contest.

They’re averaging 29.7 points every time they hit the field, which is nearly four points fewer than what they’re allowing.

These two teams have played each other 76 times throughout the years, and while San Jose State came away with a win last season, recent history has seen the Bulldogs dominate.

Since 1988, Fresno State has gone 18-3. Betting trends are also in the Bulldogs’ favor.

In Fresno State’s last 13 road games, they are 10-3 ATS. They’re also 6-2 in their last eight against a team with a losing record.

In this head-to-head battle, the favorite has won ATS seven of the last nine times. Don’t expect that to change this time, as the Bulldogs should come out on top when it’s all said and done.

Prediction: Fresno State 45 – San Jose State 24
