Navy always gives Notre Dame a high effort game and in recent seasons has been up to the challenge of really pressing the Irish.

Notre Dame cannot afford another loss if they want to make it to playoffs.

Notre Dame

There is no way around it, Notre Dame suffered a tough loss to Florida State two weeks ago. The game was close so it was a win for bettors but it is definitely the kind that lingers with a team.

If they are overly sluggish to start this one they could be in some real trouble as Navy tends to be pretty precise and have gotten after ND in the recent past.

This is a good Fighting Irish team but I am not sure they deserve the high rating they currently have.

Despite all the accolades the Irish are still second tier on offense.

It is true that Everett Golson has improved and this team has a high level stop unit so shouldn’t they score more points. Last year they beat Navy by out-gaining them with a balanced attack.

Even though running the ball is not the specialty of this group they should be able to overpower them up front.

Navy

Navy is not having a very good season.

They are doing their usual thing rushing the ball – second in the nation – but with just a .500 record over the first 8 games there is no guarantee they will be bowl eligible, though there might be a loophole for Armed Forces Bowl or something like it.

After beating the Irish twice in a row a few years back they have been up and down in terms of competing with ND. Last year was close but the year before was a total blowout.

The way that Navy runs the triple option is very effective.

QB Keenan Reynolds is the guy you have to key on but they use so many backs that get this, 7 players, have rushed for more than 100 yards this season and all but one of those average better than 4 yards per carry.

The key to stopping Navy is being disciplined but in reality nobody is more disciplined than the Middies.

4* NCAA Football Week Week #10 Prediction: Navy +14

Though not a true home game the Middies will have the crowd behind them. Look for a tough close game that only truly gets away late.

We will know after the first few drives how this one will play out. Navy has to get off to a good start.

NCAAF Score prediction:  Notre Dame 31 – Navy 21
