One of the most intriguing SEC match-ups of the weekend won’t be nationally televised (there will be a regional CBS broadcast). The run-happy offense of Arkansas travels into the heart of Texas to take on not only the high-octane Aggies, but the crazy “13th Man” A&M fans and students.

This match-up will feature one team that wants to singularly run the ball under smashmouth head coach Bret Bielema against the home team, who aims to pass early and often even without iconic QB Johnny Manziel.

Kenny Hill, A&M’s sophomore pivot and the one to take over from Johnny Football, has been a Heisman Trophy candidate to this point, all the while the Aggies have scarcely noticed Manziel left.

We all know Texas A&M can score points with its spread offense, but the Aggies defense better be prepared to deal with a group of nasty roadgraders when the Hogs come to College Station.

The smallest offensive lineman for Arkansas is OT Brey Cook (6″7, 314 lbs) and that isn’t a misprint. There are a couple of monsters pushing 350 lbs that can demolish opposing defensive lines with in-line run blocking.

It also helps that Arkansas has a nice stable of RBs, led by Alex Collins (who had a beauty 84-yard TD last week versus Texas Tech) and well-built junior Jonathan Williams. Both of these players have the speed to break one, but they’re happiest smashing it between the tackles.

The Razorbacks are third nationally in points scored and eighth in the country in rushing yards per game. Clearly, QB Brandon Allen doesn’t get much aerial work in.

The Hogs are also one of the few teams that doesn’t aim to hurry up their offense. Consequently, when they are successful on the ground (they usually are) they can control the clock, which can be paramount against a volatile offense like the Aggies.

All the same, it’s hard to bet against head coach Kevin Sumlin’s men, who can seemingly do no wrong since Manziel walked onto campus.

The receiving duo of Malcolme Kennedy and Josh Reynolds soak up the lion’s share of Hill’s passes for the unbeaten Aggies. The Williams duo – RBs Trey and Brandon – make the most of their opportunities, averaging 7.2 and six yards per clip, respectively.

It’s a dangerous offense that will score points against the visiting Hogs.

If Texas A&M can slow down the running game – which will be a tall order – the home team should handle the cloud o’ dust Razorbacks.
