However, Oregon will be in no mood to lose to an FCS team, no matter how good they are historically, in their final tune-up before beginning Pac-12 play.

After claiming six conference championships and making two trips to the NCAA FCS Playoffs, Missouri State hadn’t been picked to finish last in the Missouri Valley Conference since 1987. But after a dismal 0-2 start, the Bears are proving that last season’s 5-6 finish may be a foretaste of things to come in the programs rebuilding years.

This will be the second game of the season for the Bears against an FBS opponent after being pummeled in their season opener, 51-7 at then-No.15 Arkansas.

The Bears did better in their second game, and after falling behind 14-0 at the half to Eastern Kentucky, bounced back and made the score 14-10 with 14:12 left in the game.

However, even with the return of QB Trevor Wooden who was suspended for violating team rules in the first game of the season, the Bears couldn’t capitalize on their good fortune, eventually falling 28-24.

It was a disappointing result for Wooden who threw for 262 yards and two scores while Jermaine Saffold, the only Bears player named to the preseason all-Missouri Valley first team, had six catches for 126 yards and both touchdown receptions. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Meanwhile, the Ducks, after being humbled in their opener, are coming off of a 69-20 victory against the Nevada Wolf Pack last Saturday.

Is was a day of reckoning for the Ducks, as several players turned in turn-around performances including QB Darron Thomas, who finished the contest tied for the school-record with six touchdowns in a game, and set the school-mark with five touchdowns in one half.

Freshman running back De’Anthony Thomas also bounced back from a rough first game, by leading all Ducks’ players in all-purpose yards with 204 yards. He led the team in rushing yards (81) and receiving yards (93) finishing with two touchdowns.

Now the Ducks will hope its speedy spread offense that racked up 603 yards in total offense against the Wolf Pack, can keep them from being embarrassed against Missouri State defense, which has given up per game averages of 39.5 points, 174-yards rushing and 255 yards through the air this weekend.

However, even though Oregon looks to have the advantage on both sides of the ball, do not be surprised if Missouri State’s Wooden makes some big plays in the air and on his feet.

NCAA Gambling Trends:

Under is 10-3 in USC last 13 games in September.
USC are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games in September.
USC are 5-12 ATS in their last 17 games on grass.

Matt’s Prediction: Oregon 48, Missouri State 14–

The Ducks, who have won 17 straight at home and will use their multiple player sets to confuse and shut down the Bears offense, which has struggled to start this season.
