It’s a good thing the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Braves have been strong this past year, because it’s clearly been a miserable slog for college football in the Peachtree State. Tech represents the best record in the Pure, Old-Fashioned Hate tilt versus the Bulldogs this season, so this game is pretty much just for in-state bragging rights.

With head coach Paul Johnson’s surgical triple-option attack, Tech leads the nation in rushing (almost 320 yards per game) but it hasn’t translated in the win column this season. RB Anthony Allen is up over 1,000 yards for the season, and fleet-footed QB Josh Nesbitt nearly has 800 rushing yards for his efforts. But Tech can’t throw the ball, they aren’t particularly good at stopping anyone (59th in the nation) and a rough three-game losing streak is still fresh in the Jackets’ minds. They did win last week against Duke, but that’s not exactly cause for a ticker-tape parade.

GT will surely move the ball on the ground this week, but the superior SEC talent of Georgia should likely shine through.

Georgia

Doubtlessly, it has hurt periodically throughout the season for Georgia to field a freshman pivot and only fleetingly deploying superstar wideout A.J. Green. Still, when you’re a perennially a strong SEC East team, excuses can only carry you so far. QB Aaron Murray has actually had a decent season, but the Bulldogs rushing attack hasn’t been consistent enough and a four-game losing streak early in the season buried this team.

This doesn’t take away from the fact that UGA is chock-full of highly-touted talent. When everyone is healthy and things are firing on all cylinders, Georgia can score on any team in the country. Tech will prove no exception. Georgia can finish .500 with a win this week, and though there isn’t a whole lot to play for at this point, bragging rights against a genuine rival should be enough for the stars to align Between the Hedges.

The Pick: Expect Murray to hook up with Green – a lot. Murray is getting over a leg injury but expect him to play in this game. The Bulldogs are heavy favorites in this one, and though you wouldn’t be able to tell from the win-loss records, there’s a good reason for that. The Bulldogs take this game going away.

Georgia Tech vs. Georgia Score Prediction: Georgia Tech 24, Georgia 41
