The Wisconsin Badgers host the South Florida Bulls on Saturday in Week 5 of the college football season. The Bulls are looking to buck the trend of recent failures against non-conference foes, while the Badgers look to win their 32nd-consecutive non-conference home game.

The Badgers are coming off a heck of a performance in which they rushed for a Big Ten-record 644 yards a week ago. Star running back Melvin Gordon ran for a career-high 253 yards on only 13 carries, and equaled a school record with five touchdowns in the Badgers’ 68-17 win over Bowling Green.

Gordon’s performance was a much-needed bounce-back after he churned out only 38 yards in his previous game. The Badgers lead the nation in rushing, averaging 359.7 yards per game.

The run defense was a strength for the Bulls a week ago as they limited UConn to 57 rushing yards, the fewest they’ve allowed all season, but of course, Wisconsin is a major step up from what the Huskies have to offer.

The South Florida offense has something to offer as well, as freshman running back Marlon Mack is averaging 125.5 yards per game which is good for 12th in the nation.

He churned out 103 yards and a score against UConn. He’s scored five times while running the ball this season, which is more than the four the team scored a year ago. Four of those scores came in the team’s 36-31 win over Western Carolina to open the season.

The Badgers’ ground game is obviously working just fine, but the team’s passing game hasn’t been up to snuff.

The absence of top wideout Jared Abbrederis certainly hurts, and it’s led to quarterback Tanner McEvoy looking very ordinary.

The South Florida passing attack hasn’t looked all that great either, as quarterback Mike White has completed just 24-of-61 passes for a completion percentage of 39.3. Leaning on Mack will again be the focus of the Bulls’ offense.

FREE South Florida vs. Wisconsin Pick:

The Badgers outclass the Bulls in just about every facet of the game which will make for a one-sided affair come Saturday. The Bulls are coming off a strong performance against UConn, but this is a major step up in class hat they just aren’t ready for.

Additionally, the total in this game feels awful low considering the Badgers have what it takes to eclipse this number on their own. The Bulls should be good for a touchdown or two of their own to help contribute to the cause.

The Badgers are 21-8-1 ATS in their last 30 home games, while the Bulls are 6-21-1 ATS in their last 28 non-conference games.

The over is 4-1 in the Badgers’ last five games overall.
