Week #4: Eagles vs Spartans Predictions

Eastern Michigan will be looking to get out of this one in one piece. A couple of years ago they kept it close but the 5 times before that were MSU routs and covers.

Eastern Michigan
Eastern Michigan beat Morgan State in their opener and that might be the only win they get this season. Since then they have been hammered at Florida and lost at Old Dominion.

Having scored just three points over that contest you would think they would be 0-2 ATS but miraculously they covered against the Monarchs by holding the FBS newbies to just 17 points.
If they are able to get on the scoreboard at all this week it might be considered a success.
There are some ugly matchup and huge spreads this week and this is one of them. It is hard to envision just how the Eagles are going to advance the ball against the Spartans.
It was one thing to get hammered by Florida but last week against Old Dominion they had just 215 total yards of offense so it is not just that Florida is that much better.

Compared to the Gators Michigan State is even stronger in most facets of the game.
Michigan State
There is no way to sugar coat it, the Spartans were just not good enough to win against Oregon a couple of weeks ago. To my mind they are still the best team in the Big Ten and they go about proving their case that they are still among the best teams in the country beginning on Saturday.
They definitely will not lose to Eastern Michigan but a commanding performance wouldn’t hurt their perception.
There is doubt about MSU and they need to stamp it out.
To prove that they are among the elite the Spartans need a high level of performance on both sides of the ball. On defense it would look really sharp if they pitched a shutout – Florida did it and ODU gave up just 3 points.
On offense I would love to see them get 200+ yards for Jeremy Langford.
MSU should be physical with the Eagles and just pound away unmercilessly.
