College Football Picks Week 8:

Saturday October 24, 2009

(12) Georgia Tech at Virginia at 12 PM ET, Scott Stadium.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets -5
Virginia Cavaliers +5

The Yellow Jackets are coming into this game with BIG MO after upsetting Virginia Tech last weekend.  QB Josh Nesbitt seems to be unstoppable on the ground.

My Pick: Georgia Tech will cover the 5 points on the road

South Florida at (20) Pittsburgh at 12 PM ET, Heinz Field.

South Florida Bulls +6
Pittsburg Panthers -6

Pitt and USF have split six meetings; the Bulls know how to win at Heinz Field as they have done it twice.   Pitt QB Bill Stull is having a tremendous season and if he continues his play Pitt will win.

My Pick: Panthers will cover.

(13) Penn State at Michigan at 3:30 PM ET, Michigan Stadium

Penn State Nittany Lions -5
Michigan Wolverines +5

Penn State is not playing sound football in my opinion and won’t win on the road.

My Pick: Upset by the Wolverines.

(11) Oregon at Washington at 3:30 PM ET, Husky Stadium.

Oregon Ducks -10
Washington Huskies +10

The Huskies’ schedule is one the hardest in College Football this year and this week they host a good Oregon team. The Huskies will have to try to stop RB LaMichael James, who has been the go to guy for the Oregon’s offense.  Washington is ranked second worst in run defense in the Pac 10.

My Pick: Ducks by 2 TDs.

(6) Iowa at Michigan State at 7 PM ET, Spartan Stadium

Iowa Hawkeyes pk
Michigan State Spartans pk

The Hawkeyes have lost four straight in East Lansing since a 21-7 win in 1995. Iowa big star RB Adam Robinson will have a tough matchup against the 3rd ranked run defense in the Big Ten.

My Pick: Iowa on the road.

(1) Florida at Mississippi State, at 7:30 PM ET, Davis Wade Stadium

Florida Gators -23
Mississippi State Bulldogs +23

Some sports pundits have come out and said that the Gators win last week against Arkansas was the result of poor officiating.  Gators will want to prove them wrong.

My Pick: Gators will cover the spread.

(8) TCU at (16) Brigham Young at 7:30 PM ET, LaVell Edwards Stadium.

TCU Horned Frogs -2
BYU Cougars +2

This is a MUST WATCH game in week 8.  BYU leads the all-time series 5-3. Bowl game invitations rest on the outcome of this game.

My Pick: Upset by the Horned Frogs.
Auburn at (9) LSU at 7:30 PM ET, Tiger Stadium

Auburn Tigers +7
LSU Tigers -7

Auburn’s last win in Baton Rouge came a decade ago and since then they have gone winless in 4 trips. Tigers’ QB Chris Todd will have his sub-par game of the season against a solid LSU defense.

My Pick: LSU by a couple of TDs.

(3) Texas at Missouri at 8:00 PM ET, Faurot Field.

Texas Longhorns -12
Missouri Tigers +12

This is going to be a high scoring game as two top 20 passing offenses face-off in Missouri.  Texas QB Colt McCoy and Missouri QB Blaine Gabbert both will try to redeem themselves after mediocre performances last week.

My Pick: Texans by a TD.
