No. 14 Florida State Seminoles vs. Miami Hurricanes NCAAF Preview

FSU holds their BCS destiny in their hands, as the lone unbeaten team in the ACC Atlantic Division is Maryland, who the Seminoles face in the 2nd to last game of the season. NCAAF lines have Florida State as big 21-point away favorites with a total of 56.5.

In their last games Florida State laid a 51-7 beat down on Boston College while Miami lost their 2nd straight game falling to North Carolina 18-14.

On the season Florida State is 2-4 ATS with an Over/Under record of 3-2 and Miami is 4-2 ATS with an Over/Under record of 4-2.

Miami is led by their 24th ranked passing offense and starting QB Stephen Morris is questionable for the game with an ankle injury. If he cannot go Ryan Williams will get the start. Canes’ WR’s Phillip Dorsett and Rashawn Scott are each averaging over 15 yards per catch, but not only is Morris a question mark, but the FSU pass defense ranks 6th in the nation.

Florida State also has a great run defense ranking 5th in the nation and Duke Johnson and Mike James, who rushed for nearly 100 yards in the loss to UNC, will have a tough task moving the chains on the ground. However, if Morris cannot go these guys will have to step up and play well. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

FSU EJ Manuel is coming off a HUGE game and he has a slew of targets, where the top 2 are averaging over 17 yards per reception, and that is not good facing a Miami defense that has given up 35 points in 5 of 7 games this season.

FSU RB Chris Thompson has rushed for over 100 yards in 3 of his last 5 games and the Miami D cannot only focus on stopping Manuel or he may have a big game. On top of that he will be facing a Miami run defense that only ranks 118th in the nation.

Miami is in first place in the ACC Coastal Division and if they lose this game they may miss out on a chance to play in the conference championship game.

In some betting trends for this ACC match up Florida State is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win and they have an Under record of 5-0 in their last 5 road games.

Miami is e 4-0 ATS in their last 4 conference games, 7-15 ATS in their last 22 home games vs. a team with a winning road record, and they have an Under record of 39-19-1 in their last 59 home games.

Jason’s Pick: The road team is 6-0 ATS in the last 6 games between these 2 teams, but I think that will change. I think FSU will win, but I think Morris will play and play well, as the Canes will cover the big spread at home.
