NCAAF Wagering – Florida Gators vs. Florida State Seminoles

The college football season now enters the most critical portion of the year, and BetUS Sportsbook is there to cover all of the action for sports betting fans. Bragging rights, recruiting battles, and a chase for the BCS National Championship are all on the line when the Florida Gators (10-1, 8-2 ATS) invade Doak Campbell Stadium to do battle with the Florida State Seminoles (8-3, 5-3-1 ATS).

The Gators have taken four straight in this Sunshine State showdown, which includes last years 45-12 whitewashing of the Seminoles in “the Swamp.” Florida has been on the right side of this football betting rivalry as well of late, covering the spread in three of the L/4 meetings.

Florida has been mauling its competition since losing to Mississippi on September 27th. The Gators have averaged beating their L/7 opponents by the average score of 53-12. Football bettors backing the blue and orange have gone a perfect 6-0 ATS since the start of October. Last week’s opponent was the Citadel. The Gators crushed the Bulldogs 70-19, in what has become a fairly normal performance in “the Swamp.” QB Tim Tebow kept his name in the running for his second straight Heisman Trophy by completing 9-of-11 passes for 201 yards and three scores in limited action.

He leads the UF offense that currently ranks 18th in the country compiling 444.6 yards per game. The 46.5 points per game the unit averages is the third best mark in the land. The difference between this Gator team and those of years’ past is the defense. Florida ranks 9th in the country, allowing 278.7 yards per game and ranks third in the NCAA allowing just 12 points per game.

Florida State has been one of the most wildly inconsistent teams for college football bettors this season. A week after losing 27-17 to Boston College, the ‘Noles traveled to College Park and blew out the Terrapins 37-3 as two-point road chalks. It was arguably the most complete game of the season for the Seminoles. QB Christian Ponder completed 19-of-24 passes for 143 yards and a touchdown, and paced the rushing attack with 81 yards and a score.

The defense continued its nasty play for the ‘Noles by forcing a pair of fumbles and intercepting two passes; Maryland managed just 252 total yards of offense. It was the biggest victory of the season against an FBS school for Florida State, and the biggest margin of victory against the spread since 2004.

There’s no respect being offered up by oddsmakers for the garnet and gold in this football betting match-up, as the Gators have been installed gargantuan 17-point road favorites with a game ‘total’ of 57.5.

This is the largest spread in this series since 2001 when Florida was favored by 18 points. However that game was in “the Swamp.” FSU hasn’t been this big an underdog at Doak Campbell Stadium in over two decades.
