Air Force Falcons vs. Michigan Wolverines CFB Preview & Free Pick

Falcons vs Wolverines NCAAF Betting + Handicapping

Denard Robinson really struggled last week, as Michigan was blown out by Alabama and they fell 11 spots in the polls because of it. They have a good chance to regroup facing an Air Force team that was 0-2 facing ranked teams last season.

Air Force Falcons vs. No. 19 Michigan Wolverines Preview

NCAAF lines have Michigan as big 21.5-home favorites in this non-conference match up with a total of 62.

In their opening games of the season Michigan lost to Alabama 41-14 while Air Force beat Idaho State 49-21.

Michigan did not cover the spread in their loss to Alabama and there was no line in the Air Force game. Michigan’s defense struggled in the loss to Alabama and their main goal in this game is to contain Falcons RB Cody Getz, who rushed for 218 yards and 3 TD on just 17 carries against Idaho State, and QB Connor Dietz, who chimed in for 74 rushing yards.

Dietz passed for over 100 yards in the win over Idaho State, but the Falcons do not air it out much and if the Wolverines can play solid run defense they should easily win this game. However, in the loss to Alabama they gave up 232 rushing yards.

After only 1 game the Falcons lead the nation in rushing yards per game and they since the start of 2010 they lead the FBS with 317.1 rushing yards per game. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Robinson must get back on track in this game and he has a good chance to do so since the Falcons do not have a good pass defense and they gave up 365 passing yards to Idaho State.

Robinson will have more help in this game, as starting RB Fitzgerald Toussaint is back after being suspended for the Alabama game. He and Robinson both rushed for over 1,000 yards last season.

While Air Force is the big away underdog they do have a solid rushing attack, as they ranked up 484 yards in their easy win over Idaho State.

Air Force has lost 19 straight games facing teams ranked in the top 25 in the nation.

In some betting trends for this non-conference match up Air Force is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games, 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games following a S.U. win, and they have an Over record of 4-1 in their last 5 road games.

Michigan is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games, 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing more than 40 points in their previous game, and they have an Under record of 7-2 in their last 9 vs. a team with a winning record.

Jason’s Pick: Michigan will win this game, but the Falcons will be able to run the ball, which is why they will cover the spread.
