Are you ready for some Tuesday night football?

The East Carolina Pirates will square off against the Tigers in a rare Tuesday night meeting at Memphis.

The Pirates came away with a 30-10 victory the last time these two teams met on Oct. 18, 2008, and lead the series history 11-6, winning the last three meetings and is 5-4 all-time at Memphis.

East Carolina is coming of their third win in their last four outings, averaging 153 rushing yards game and scoring nine touchdowns on the ground this season. Eleven players caught at least one pass in a 30-10 win over Rice last week, including five with catches of 20 or more yards. Pirates’ wider receiver Jamar Bryant has at least one reception in 25 straight games. The Pirates defense is tied for 10th nationally with 17 forced turnovers and fourth in C-USA in total defense.

The Tigers lost to Southern Miss 36-16 in Week 7, their third loss in four games. Receivers Duke Calhoun and Carlos Singleton are third nationally with 40 combined touchdown receptions. The offensive line has allowed just seven sacks, which ranks second in C-USA. When it comes to defense the Tigers rank near the bottom of C-USA with only 11 takeaways in seven games. They have allowed opponents to score 25-of-27 inside the red zone and rank fifth in the conference against the pass and eighth against the run.

Pirates vs. Tigers Odds:

The odds makers currently have East Carolina as –4-point favorites.

The defending conference champion Pirates are all-alone atop C-USA East, and have won six of their last eight road games against C-USA East teams. They have held their last two opponents to 53 rushing yards per game, so a key component to an East Carolina win will be their ability to shut down Tigers running back Curtis Steele, who has rushed for 376 yards in the Tigers’ last two contests. This will force Memphis to attack through the air, where ECU is second in the league with 10 interceptions and Tigers quarterbacks have thrown 11 picks, second-most in C-USA.
