The Eagles played great offensively against the Black Knights, rolling up 523 total yards with a balanced attack.

So what’s the problem? Defense.

Boston College allowed 427 yards against Army, with 326 coming on the ground, and ranks 66th in the country in points allowed, giving up 27 points per game. It’s that dismal defense that will likely spell their demise as Boston College will have to play a perfect game to even have a chance of beating Clemson at home. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

The Tigers are rolling behind Heisman candidate quarterback Tajh Boyd, who tossed five touchdown passes in a 49-14 win at Syracuse last time out.

Boyd threw for 455 yards to lead Clemson’s No. 13-ranked offense (44.2 PPG), which produced an amazing 624 total yards against the Orange.

Meanwhile, the Tigers defense held Syracuse to 14 points and 397 total yards, forcing four turnovers.

The defensive unit ranks 16th in points allowed at 16 per game and 14th in points scored with 44 a game this season.

Matt’s Prediction

The Clemson Tigers have won the last two meetings against Boston College, including a 14-point win at on the road last season.

And while I expect Clemson to win this one, the Eagles will give then a run for their money with some points of their own.

Clemson 35, Boston College 28
