Nebraska arrives in Minneapolis off a bye and will look to pile on another win in an effort to climb back into a top 20 AP ranking, a place they have not been in a while.

Nevertheless, the Huskers are playing good football and if not for an early season loss to UCLA would be undefeated, and no doubt be ranked near the top 10 in the nation.

They are coming off a big 44-7 road win over Purdue last time out, fueled by a superb performance from running back Ameer Abdullah, who scampered through the Boilermakers defense for 126 yards at Ross-Ade Stadium.

Abdullah, who is averaging seven yards per carry, leads a Huskers offense that is pounding the opposition with their merciless rushing attack. Running the ball nearly 65 percent of the time. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Now the Huskers will aim their 14th ranked scoring offense, which is putting up an average of 39 points per game, straight at the heart of the Golden Gophers defense, which has been questionable all season long.

However, the Gophers did manage to contain the Wildcats’ offense in check, holding Northwestern to just 328 yards of total offense, in a 20-17 upset win last weekend.

Offensively, the charge was led by David Cobb, who ran through the Northwestern defense for 103 yards against the Cats’ while Phillip Nelson led a struggling air attack, completing 8-of-11 for 112 yards and a touchdown.  It was one of his best performances of the season.

Matt’s Free Prediction

Minnesota averages just over four yards per carry, while the Huskers average nearly five. That means that the Gophers probably have what it takes to hang with the Huskers as far as the ground game.

Meanwhile, the teams here are even through the air, and in overall points.

And while I do like Nebraska to get the win here, winning by double digits with a Minnesota team that has to be full of confidence right now looks to be a little too much.

With that said. My play is Minnesota and the points.

Nebraska 28, Minnesota 24
