They couldn’t quite keep up with Toledo last week but did show some fortitude in not giving up after being down really big early.

This one should be not much of a test as Miami has yet to win a league game, or any game for that matter, this season.

However, the Bulls are on the road and have to be looking just a little bit ahead to facing the Falcons, though tthat shouldn’t be enough to create an upset.

Buffalo

The Bulls saw their 7 game winning streak come to an end at Toledo last week. Despite showing a strong defense throughout that run they just had no answers to the balanced Rockets attack – they gave up 323 yards on the ground. As expressed earlier though they did not give up.

Early in the 3rd quarter they were down 38–0 but they finished strong to only lose by 10.

There is absolutely no way they are going to be a similar situation this week at hapless Miami. The plan should be to focus on the running game with shifty back Brandon Oliver and not get too enamored with the fact that the Joe Licata threw for almost 500 yards last week with no interceptions.

This is a running game and defense kind of team and as long as they don’t get cute they should easily get the win they need to set up next week’s showdown.

They will probably cover the -24 but I will look for better values elsewhere on the board

Miami

This year’s Redhawks are getting pretty close to joining a pretty exclusive club. They have been playing football at the school since the 1960’s and only once before have they gone winless for an entire season, back in 1988.

These Redhawks used to be one of the leaders in the MAC and have a good history, most recently with players like QB Ben Roethlisberger.

This year they have been an absolute disaster as only two of their ten games have been even as close as 7 points – they are not snakebit, they are bad.

I wouldn’t have though it could be possible, especially in a league like the MAC where the defenses are just OK, but Miami is averaging less than 10 points scored per game. Just let that sink in – Baylor probably scored more than that in the time you took to read this piece.

Their defense is not nearly as hapless but when you are scoring so few points it is near impossible to win.

This is their last best chance to get a victory this season as they are at home. Next week at Ball State – no way.

Spread Pick: Buffalo -24
O/U Pick: N/A
Score Prediction: Buffalo 41 – Miami 9
