Weekend Underdog Pick – Buffalo vs. Missouri

Week 4 NCAAF Underdog gambling selections. If there’s any team in the MAC capable of an upset of this magnitude outside of Bowling Green, it’s Buffalo.

NCAA Football Betting: Buffalo Bulls vs. Missouri Tigers

Missouri -34 / O/U 71.5

This week presents another exciting sports wagering opportunity for NCAA football betting enthusiasts and BetUS customers as the sixth ranked Missouri Tigers will take on the perennial underdog in college football, the Buffalo Bulls.

These schools are nearly polar opposites of one another—Buffalo is a program from a small school, with a small fan base and thus, small expectations. Missouri is a storied program with plenty of funding, a rabid fan base and BCS aspirations.

So why even preview this game?

Well, the baby Bulls have nothing to lose. Missouri absolutely thrashed Nevada last week, but Buffalo has flown under the radar as a viable upset threat–a much different squad than the Wolf Pack.

The key against the Tigers, as it is every week for the Bulls, will be the play of quarterback Drew Willy. The senior pivot alone makes Buffalo a respectable team, with his pinpoint accuracy and strong presence in the pocket. Willy also proved that he could come from behind and march his team to victory, airing out a Futie-esque Hail Mary to win last week’s game over Temple. Sure, the Owls aren’t the class of the Big 12, but they are MAC contenders, and a resilient performance such as last week’s should make some people believers in the Bulls.

Willy will have one thing in his favor: the absence of William Moore. Missouri has never been known for its secondary, but the loss of their star safety-by-day, rapper-by-night in Moore makes for a very shaky situation back there. Bulls coach Turner Gill is also an astonishing 13-1 against the Tigers as a player and coach!

But, for the pessimists out there, let’s be real: This is the fourth best team in the nation. Buffalo couldn’t upset Pitt, and despite the dramatic finish, almost lost to Temple. The Bulls have a very young secondary, and their run defense has been depleted with the departure of their two starting linebackers from ’07. Derrick Washington could potentially have a monster game if Missouri decides to take it to the ground more often than they have this season.

For BetUS customers however, what point is there in laying juice like -20000 on the Tigers? It’s not an absolute lock that they’ll roll over the Bulls, and even if they do, what have you gained? The only play here is on the Bulls at +2800…PLUS TWENTY-EIGHT HUNDRED! NCAA bettors can see the dollar signs now, because if there’s any team in the MAC capable of an upset of this magnitude outside of Bowling Green, it’s Buffalo.

The Play:

Buffalo (+2800) on the NCAA Football Moneyline, and if you really think Missouri will put up 60+ points again, the over (total is 71) is a fine play as well.
