They will now make the flight across the Pacific to take on Hawaii who is still searching for its first win of the 2013 season.

Bulldogs quarterback Derek Carr had a career night against the Broncos, throwing for a whopping 460 yards and four touchdowns as Fresno State snapped a seven-game losing streak against Boise State.
Isaiah Burse was his favorite target with 10 receptions for 148 yards for Fresno State, which is off to its first 3-0 start since 2004.

Defensively, the Bulldogs will need to tighten things up however,  as they allowed the Broncos to put up 561 total yards of offense,  including 200 on the ground.

Meanwhile, the Broncos held Fresno State to just 62 total rushing yards.

That’s something the Warriors defense will want to take advantage of, forcing Fresno into a passing posture  to allow its defenders to focus on Carr and keep its offense in the game. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

An offense that has struggled this season, being outscored 31-12 on average, and generating just 282 yards per game, which is near the bottom of the college ranks.

The Warriors scored just nine points in their loss to Nevada, who rolled up 340 yards and forced the Hawaii offense to turn the ball over six times.

The Warriors’ rushing attack averaged less than four yards per carry against the Wolf Pack, with Hawaii using four quarterbacks who combined for 243 yards.

Matt’s Prediction

The Bulldogs beat the Warriors 45-10 the last time the two teams met in 2012. Carr passed for 304 yards in that game, completing 15-of-23 with four touchdowns.

The rushing attack also tallied 151 yards, 102 of which came by way of departing senior running back Robbie Rouse.

Still, the Bulldogs should have no problem putting up enough points to overcome what will likely be another anemic offensive turnout by the Warriors, who just can’t seem to find the end zone despite grabbing huge chunks of real estate like they did in Reno.

I expect Fresno to cover with the total staying under.

Fresno State 45, Hawaii 14
