Georgia will get a much-needed offensive boost, as tailback Todd Gurley is expected to play for the first time since spraining his left ankle Sept. 28 against LSU.

The Gators meanwhile, have eight players, including starting quarterback Jeff Driskel sidelined for the rest of the season.

Georgia arrives in Jacksonville riding a two-game losing streak, following a shocking 31-27 defeat to Vanderbilt who scored the go-ahead touchdown with 2:53 remaining.

It was the Commodores first home win against their SEC rival since 1991. In fact, Vandy had lost the last 17 of the 18 meetings overall in the series.

The Gators offense continued to sputter without Gurley, who missed his third straight game with a sprained left ankle. However, the power running back is set to return against the Gators. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Gurley topped 100 yards rushing in his first two games, and will bring some much-needed punch to the Bulldogs’ offense.

The Gators, in the meantime, are coming off a 36-17 drubbing by No. 14 Missouri, extending their losing skid to two.

Florida entered game leading the SEC in total defense with an average of 235 yards allowed, but came out on the other side surrendering 500 to the Tigers. That to a team, which was operating without its starting quarterback.

Meanwhile, the Florida offense struggled, as Tyler Murphy was held to 15-for-29 for 92 yards and an interception as the Gators managed just 151 total yards, while turning the ball over three times.

One bright spot for Florida, however, was its special teams, as Solomon Patton brought Florida back within striking distance to open the third quarter, with a 100-yard kickoff return to begin the second half.

Matt’s Free Prediction

The Bulldogs have won the past two meetings with Florida, but have not beaten the Gators three consecutive years since the late 1980s.

The Dogs’ come into the game allowing 30 or more points six times in seven games against a Florida side that ranks 103rd nationally in scoring at 21 points per game.

The Gators are just not able to find ways to move the ball and Murphy has struggled since taking over for Driskel, which means their hopes lie with a defense that is eighth nationally in points allowed per game.

But considering they were torched for 500 yards and 36 points against the Tigers, I have to go with the Bulldogs here.

Georgia 31, Florida 21
