WMU vs NIU College Football Spread/Handicapping
This week will likely be a bit anticlimactic for Northern Illinois. Last week they had a legitimate challenge against a good Toledo team on the road but their last game of the MAC regular season is against a very limited Western Michigan team.

The Broncos have only one win on the season and their only hope is that the Huskies already have BCS visions in their head, or at least an eye towards the MAC title game, and are not taking them seriously.

The Broncos should be a mere speed bump for this impressive, professional like squad.
Western Michigan
Western Michigan, normally a pretty solid MAC program, has had an awful season and they are probably looking at this game in one of two ways. The first is that it would really make their entire program to knock off the big bad undefeated Huskies; the second is a hope that they don’t finish the season with their most embarrassing loss yet – which is a distinct possibility.
On the road against a top team the Broncos just don’t have what it takes to challenge the Huskies. Statistically they have but one strength which is a pass defense that ranks 11th in the nation which is completely inexplicable. This anomaly is not likely to do them much good against a Husky attack that prefers the ground.

Western Michigan hasn’t beaten Northern Illinois since 2008 and hasn’t covered against them since 2006.
Both of those streaks seem to be pretty safe this week.
Northern Illinois
The Huskies were very impressive last week. They went on the road to Toledo, who I think is the second best team in the MAC, and won the game going away. It was another masterful performance for QB Jordan Lynch who rushed for more than 160 yards with three touchdowns. He also threw for 200 more without an interception.
The really great thing about Lynch is that he seems to get better as the game goes on and he doesn’t mind being physical at all.
One concerning fact from the win is that NIU put the ball on the ground three times. They didn’t lose any of those fumbles but that they have to clean that up for the MAC title game and certainly for a BCS game after that.
This is the perfect game to try and tighten up as many things as possible because they really shouldn’t be challenged.
Its the first game of a week filled with midweek action due to Thanksgiving but it probably won’t be much to look at.
