Texas A&M Aggies vs. Alabama Crimson Tide Gambling Prediction & Week 11 Preview

Aggies vs Crimson Tide NCAA Football Spread/Handicapping

The No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide were finally challenged last week when they faced off against the LSU Tigers, but they ultimately came out victorious in a 21-17 battle with their toughest competition to date. The Texas A&M Aggies will look to test the Tide in the same way this weekend, as they’ve proven they can hang with the SEC so far.

The Aggies will have confidence coming into this game, but the Tide will have BCS championship aspirations, and the question is, which one will prove to be more valuable?

Texas A&M Aggies

The Texas A&M Aggies may have two losses on the season, but with those two blemishes coming against the Florida Gators and the LSU Tigers, nobody is counting them out of any game just yet.

They’re coming off a 38-12 trouncing of the No. 15 Mississippi State Bulldogs last weekend, and they’re looking to shock the world with a win over Alabama.

The Aggies’ success starts and ends with freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel. The 6’1”, 200-pound man behind center is the definition of a dual-threat quarterback. He has thrown for 2,527 yards and 16 scores on the season with just six interceptions, and he leads the entire SEC in rushing with 922 yards and 15 touchdowns. If this kid can play like he’s used to, and not get rattled by the best defense in the nation, the Aggies stand a real chance at winning this contest.

Defensively, Texas A&M is no Alabama, but they’ve done a good job of holding their own against SEC competition this year. Their rushing defense is 32nd in the nation, as they’ve allowed just 132.1 yards per game on the ground, and they allow just 21 points per game. Their passing defense has been suspect this year, so they’ll need to watch out for A.J. McCarron, who will look to take advantage of their secondary.

Alabama Crimson Tide

After last week’s scare against the LSU Tigers, the Alabama Crimson Tide are going to be all business heading into their matchup with the Texas A&M Aggies. A.J. McCarron has only led the Tide to the 81st-ranked passing attack in the nation this year, but against a poor passing defense, he’ll have a field day if they can establish the run early. Defensively, Alabama is about to give the Aggies their biggest test to date. The team is eighth in passing defense, second in rushing defense, second in total yards allowed and first in points allowed. The team from Tuscaloosa gives up just 9.1 points per contest, which is about 35 points less than what Texas A&M is used to scoring.

On paper, Texas A&M has a chance to keep up with the Tide this weekend. They score a lot of points, they keep their opponents’ scores low and they have a better attack in both the passing game and the ground game this season. Unfortunately for the Aggies, this game will not be played on paper this weekend.

When it comes time to take the field, Alabama has the advantage all game long. Their defense is hands-down the best in the country, and their offense, while it may not put up the same numbers as the Aggies, it is as efficient as it comes in college football. As long as Alabama sticks to their trend of protecting the ball and not making mistakes, their defense will allow them to play the game methodically, which is what they’ve done throughout the year to dominate the competition up to this point.
