College Football Betting – Bulldogs Look To Avoid Trap Against Blazers

Before College Football Gambling fans turn their attention to other sports betting events this week, we have the Thursday NCAA game of the day pick for you. It’s time for our weekly Football picks for online ncaa football betting action.

Team records:
UAB: 2-4 SU, 3-3 ATS
Mississippi State: 5-2 SU, 4-2 ATS

College football betting players watched Mississippi State pull out a massive upset last weekend, which put them in the top 25 for the first time since 2001.

That’s why it’s very important they remain focused for Saturday’s visit from UAB: this is the very definition of a trap game.

UAB Mississippi State Betting – Saturday, October 23rd, 7:00 PM ET

The Blazers (2-4, 1-2) put up two fourth-quarter scores in a 21-6 win at home against UTEP, and the offense put up a staggering 500 yards in this game. Bryan Ellis was on fire, going 20-of-28 for 272 yards, three scores and no picks, while the Blazers racked up 228 yards on the ground.

They did an excellent job keeping the Miners out of the end zone, stopping them on nine of 13 third-down opportunities.

The Blazers have the 35th-ranked offense in the nation, but they’re only 91st in points scored, and if they don’t score when they have the chance in Starkville, it’s going to be a very long day.

It was a very special day for the No.24 Bulldogs (5-2, 2-2), who went to “The Swamp” and came away with a 10-7 win over Florida, their first win in Gainesville since 1965 (a 16-game span). Coach Dan Mullen left Florida to join the Bulldogs, so it had to be sweet to beat Florida coach Urban Meyer.

Chris Relf was only 4-of-9 for 33 yards, but he ran 22 times for 82 yards, and he scored the Bulldogs’ lone touchdown of the game as Mississippi State put up 212 rushing yards on the Gators. They gave up a few yards, 361 to be exact, but they forced a pair of turnovers.

The Bulldogs are favored by 20 points at home in this contest, and they’ve beaten the Blazers in two of three meetings since 2004, but by no more than 16 points. That’s why picking the Bulldogs to cover the spread would be like a sports betting bonus. We’re not sure that the Mississippi State offense can score enough points to cover that, and the Bulldogs are only 1-4 ATS in their last five games as a sports betting favorite of eight points or more.

This will be UAB’s second road game against an SEC team, and they took Tennessee to the limit in Knoxville on September 25th, falling 32-29 in overtime. The Bulldogs could also be in for a bit of a letdown after such a massive win at Florida, and while we think they’re going to win the game, that 20-point spread is scary.

Betting Trends:

UAB is 3-7 ATS in its last 10 games on the road
UAB is 2-6 SU in its last 8 games
The total has gone OVER in 4 of UAB’s last 6 games on the road
UAB is 4-21 SU in its last 25 games on the road
Mississippi State is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games
Mississippi State is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games at home

Free Pick: Take Mississippi State to win outright, but if you’re feeling risky, go with UAB against the sports betting spread.
