Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs. Clemson Tigers Gambling Prediction & Week 6 Preview

Yellow Jackets vs Tigers NCAA Football Spread/Handicapping

The No. 15 Clemson Tigers play host to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets this Saturday, and for the most part, their seasons have gone different directions up to this point in the year. The Yellow Jackets may have one of the most exciting and unique offenses in the country, but their 39.2 points per game have only resulted in two wins in their first five contests.

Clemson is another offensive powerhouse, but their only loss came against the No. 4 Florida State Seminoles in the fourth week of the season.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are coming off one of the most shocking losses in program history against Middle Tennessee last weekend. A 2-3 record is nothing to boast in the ACC, but two of their three blemishes were overtime losses against the University of Miami (FL) and No. 16 Virginia Tech. While this is a promising sign that they’ve kept things closer, it’s a bad indication that they’ve yet to show they can finish contests in 2012.

On the plus side, the team has the third-best running game in the entire country. Their quarterback, Tevin Washington, leads the team in rushing with 304 yards and 11 touchdowns. This team’s offense is about as unique as it comes, and if their opponents aren’t prepared, they’ll be exploited big-time.

The only problem with such a high-powered ground game is that they are extremely one-dimensional. The team is 115th in the nation when it comes to passing yards, and they have just four total scores through the air through five weeks. Clemson’s defense isn’t great, but you have to believe that the Yellow Jackets are going to need a more balanced attack to outscore their high-scoring opponents.

Clemson Tigers

The Clemson Tigers have dropped five of their last six meetings against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. History suggests that the Yellow Jackets will push the Tigers to the limit this weekend, but Clemson should prove to be the more ready team despite their stagnant start against Boston College last weekend. The biggest news for the Tigers this week is that standout wide receiver Sammy Watkins is expected to suit up following his absence last Saturday. Watkins is arguably the team’s best receiver. He’s due for a breakout performance, and what better time than against a team that plays very little defense.

Both of these teams have struggled at times defensively, so don’t be surprised to see a lot of points go on the board when these squads face off Saturday. Georgia Tech has one of the most dangerous ground games in the country, and with so many freshman and sophomore on the Tigers’ defense, the youngsters could be in for a long game if they struggle to defend the option offense come game time.

The Tigers have a much more balanced attack. The diversity in their offense will be tough for the Yellow Jackets to control, and as a result, Clemson should come out on top once the clock strikes zero.
