Arkansas vs. UL-Monroe Free Gambling Prediction & Week 2 Preview

Razorbacks vs Warhawks NCAA Football Spread/Handicapping

It is sort of amusing to call the Hogs playing in Little Rock a “neutral site”, though it’s technically correct. Arkansas leaves the familiar confines of Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville to travel down the I40 to the state capital.

The Hogs should give the many fans that flock to the hometown of Bill Clinton quite a show.

Arkansas QB Tyler Wilson is maybe the best pivot in the entire SEC, which is saying a lot considering Aaron Murray, A.J. McCarron and Tyler Bray populate the conference.

Wilson, WR Cobi Hamilton and a deep stable of running backs should pile up the points against their Sun Belt opponent this week.

The Hogs topped Jacksonville State 49-24 in the opener, a trademark Razorbacks win as they piled up the scores, but also allowed more points than they should have against an inferior foe.

The fact that an FCS team dropped 24 points on the Hogs might give the Warhawks a little hope.

This Saturday, UL-Monroe plays its first game of the 2012 campaign. The Warhawks are coming off a 4-8 finish last year, playing in the anemic Sun Belt Conference.

There is a decent trio of skill position players on the roster with QB Kolton Browning, RB Jyruss Edwards and WR Brent Leonard, but this team simply hasn’t the speed nor the depth to hang with an impressive team from the nation’s elite conference.  [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Last season, the Warhawks got shut out versus Florida State and lost by 30 to Iowa, so it doesn’t set up well for the prospect of UL-Monroe pulling the upset in Little Rock.

Wilson could shred the Warhawks’ secondary early, and then sport a ballcap on the sideline in the second half while junior QB Brandon Mitchell finishes the job.

The Arkansas’s RB position is just too deep; you can’t mark all that Knile Davis, Dennis Johnson and Ronnie Wingo bring to the table. In addition to offensive prowess, the Hogs will probably want to atone on defense, after coughing up a few majors versus Jacksonville State last week.

This is the last tune-up game for Arkansas before all the chips are down next week, when #1 Alabama comes to town.

Head coach John L. Smith and the rest of the staff must ensure the team is humming at maximum efficiency for the infamous SEC conference schedule. A sound drubbing of a middling opponent like UL-Monroe provides the perfect opportunity to make sure the team is ready for bolder challenges to come.
