NCAAF Week 12 Wagering – Boston College vs. Florida State

ACC Atlantic bragging rights are on the line in Tallahassee, and the perennial contenders, the Florida State Seminoles (7-2, 4-2-1 ATS) will play host to the Boston College Eagles (6-3, 4-4 ATS). BetUS will have all of the action from Doak Campbell Stadium until the game kicks off on Saturday night at 8:00 ET.

Last season, the Noles ended the national title hopes of the Eagles, beating the then-#2 ranked Eagles 27-17 in Chestnut Hill. The road team in this series is 3-0 SU and ATS. Expect to see another close game in this series, as the three games have been decided by an average of 8.7 points per game.

The Eagles erased a two-game losing streak with authority last weekend, annihilating their rivals from Notre Dame 17-0. Without a doubt, it was the greatest game of the season for the BC defense, which forced five turnovers and scored one of their two touchdowns of the game when SS Paul Anderson raced an errant Jimmy Clausen pass back 76 yards for a touchdown.

None of the offensive numbers for the Eagles were impressive, as QB Chris Crane only completed 9-of-22 passes for 79 yards. The 17-point victory made a mockery of the 3.5-point spread on the football betting line. The game never threatened the ‘total’. It was the first Boston College game that went ‘under’ the ‘total’ since way back on September 6th.

The 41-27 final score wasn’t exactly indicative of just how well Florida State played last weekend against Clemson. After spotting the Tigers ten points, the FSU defense took over, punishing QB Cullen Harper for six sacks and an interception. A number of his 240 passing yards came in garbage time in the 4th quarter.

The Florida State running attack was dominant, carrying the ball 36 times for 266 yards, paced by freshman stud RB Jermaine Thomas, who had 94 yards. It all added up to a 14-point win for the Noles on HC Bobby Bowden’s 79th birthday, and was more than enough to cover the 3.5-point spread. Florida State bettors are now 4-1-1 in their L/6 college football betting affairs. The 68 total points marked the third straight ‘over’ in FSU games. Don’t rest on the defense though, which ranks 5th in the nation, giving up 264.8 yards per game.

Oddsmakers have installed the Seminoles as seven-point favorites in this sports betting match-up. The ‘total’ has been set at 46.5.

It’s homecoming weekend for the Noles, who are just 1-3 ATS in their L/4 homecoming match-ups. Even though FSU has had a recent run of ‘over’ games, all of the betting trends point towards a lower scoring affair. Seventeen of Florida State’s L/25 games in November have gone ‘under’ the ‘total’, while seven of BC’s L/10 road games have failed to reach the number.
