Boston College vs. Clemson Pick/Preview

John Ryan one of our top college football cappers weighs in with a pick for Clemson vs. Boston College this weekend…

EDGE BC versus Clemson September 16 2009

Ai Simulator 3* graded play on Boston College as they face Clemson set to kick-off at 12:00 NOON. AiS shows a 67% probability that BC will lose this game by 6 or fewer points. Supporting this graded play is a system that has gone 28-4 ATS for 88% winners since 1999. Play on dogs of 3.5 to 10 points in the first month of the season and after closing out last season with 2 or more straight losses and is also a team that had a winning record last season.

Here is a 2nd system that has produced a record of 30-8 ATS for 79% winners since 1999. Play on dogs of 3.5 to 10 points after allowing 275 or less total yards in 2 consecutive games and with an inexperienced QB as starter. AiS reveals a 90% probability that Clemson will not rush for more than 2.5 yards per carry.

Note that Clemson is just 12-30 ATS (-21.0 Units) when they rush for less than 2.5 yards per attempt since 1992.

Clemson is off a SU loss to GT where they allowed 301 rushing yards on 49 attempts. The GT offense will be able to rush the ball effectively no matter which QB is at the helm. Justin Tuggle started both of the first two games while Shinskie was the second part of the rotation against Northeastern and Kent State. Both have seen equal time and both have performed exceptionally well. A decision will be made as early as Wednesday on the starter for this ACC opener. In my opinion, both QB ran the offense well enough that from the handicapping standpoint it does not matter who starts – Tech will score points and a lot of them.

BC has given up just 7 points in its’ first 2 games against inferior opponents. Yet, this defense is very physical and quick to the ball and this speed will more than offset the Clemson playmakers. There will be two changes on the Clemson offensive line due to poor performance in the GT game. Continuity on the OL is a MUST and interchanging players will not be successful with just a few days of practice.

Take BC.
