Baylor Bears vs. Iowa St. Cyclones Free Gambling Prediction & Week 9 Preview

Bears vs Cyclones NCAA Football Spread/Handicapping

Baylor is 0-3 in conference play despite twice scoring 50 or more points.  When the Bears take the field you know you can expect up and down action but this year, unlike last, the wins haven’t followed.

Baylor Bears (3-3) vs Iowa State Cyclones (4-3)
Saturday October 27
Jack Rice Stadium – Ames, IA

Moneyline:  Iowa State -145, Baylor +125 from Bovada
Spread:  Iowa State -2.5
O/U:  71

Baylor

The offense is putting up nation leading numbers but the defense is doing just the same in a negative way.  Remember, Baylor scored 63 points against West Virginia and lost.

That is the kind of team we are dealing with.

Their three losses are to West Virginia, TCU and Texas so cut the Bears just a little slack.  QB Nick Florence is following up RGIII’s dream season with some big time numbers of his own though he is not nearly as efficient or a threat to run.

Speaking of running, receiver Terrance Williams has made so many big plays it looks like he is the fastest player in America.

He has topped 1000 yards in just 6 games…that’s pretty impressive.

The Cyclones are only a game ahead of the Bears in the Big 12 standings and this is a big one in terms of determining future bowl eligibility.

I like the Bears offense to be able to outscore the Cyclones, even on the road, though I am a little concerned about weather messing things up.

Baylor is one of my top plays for the week and should win outright.

Iowa State

After an impressive win at TCU the Cyclones have lost two in a row.  Losing by just 6 against Kansas State is looking more and more impressive everyday but their loss to Oklahoma State, another team that loves to pile on the offense last week, is a concern. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

That game was on the road but the Cyclones gave up more than 600 yards of offense to the Cowboys, including 400+ through the air to a passing attack that is not as prolific as Baylor’s.

Iowa State may slow the Bears a little but if they can’t put points on the board they will eventually wear down.  QB Steele Jantz has the great name but is not overly productive.

He is turnover prone and didn’t even play in the win over TCU that impressed many observers a few weeks back.  I just don’t see how the Cyclones are going to generate enough firepower to compete for four quarters.

Baylor is going to attack the Cyclones all game long and it seems like just a matter of time before they break through.

The Bears defense is not good but the other teams that beat them had much better offenses than Iowa State.  Look for the Bears to be able to focus on stopping Iowa State and their middling attack.

By the way that win at TCU was just a couple of days after the Horned Frogs QB went DUI.

Spread Pick:  Baylor +2.5
O/U Pick:  Over
Score Prediction:  Baylor 52 – Iowa State 30
