Northern Illinois lost to the Cardinals 45-14 the last time these two teams met on Nov. 5, 2008, and will be looking to punish a struggling Cardinals team this time around.

Northern Illinois has won three consecutive games including last weeks 50-6 win over Eastern Michigan. It was the 500th victory in school history. Quarterback DeMarcus Grady won his third straight game since taking over for injured starter Chandler Harnish. Grady rushed for over 100 yards for the second straight game and finished with 104 yards on 10 carries and passed for 119 yards and two touchdowns. Tailback Chad Spann carried the ball 11 times for 174 yards, the third straight game he went over the 100-yard mark. The defense held the Eagles to just 182 scoreless yards in the final three quarters of the game.

Ball State is coming off a much needed bye week and lost to Ohio 20-17 in Week 9. The Cardinals only victory came in Week 8, in a narrow 29-27 victory against a winless Eastern Michigan team. Quarterback Tanner Justice was called on just two games ago when starter Kelly Page was lost for the season with a broken thumb. Justice passed for one yard in his first game and threw for just 78 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the loss to Ohio. The Cardinals must find a ways to pass the ball. Running back MiQuale Lewis has been the team’s strength rushing for a total of 3,187 yards this season.

Ball State vs. Northern Illinois Odds
