Arkansas Razorbacks vs. No. 8 South Carolina Gamecocks Preview

After a terrible start to the season they have won 3 of their last 4 games and at 4-5 it will be very hard for them to make a bowl game, as after this game they face 2 ranked teams to end the season. NCAAF lines have South Carolina as 14-point home favorites with a total of 52.5.

In their last games South Carolina beat Tennessee 38-35 and Arkansas beat Tulsa 19-15.

On the season Arkansas is 2-6 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 5-3 and South Carolina is 6-3 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 6-3.

Tyler Wilson, who leads the SEC in passing yards per game, leads Arkansas and he has a great WR in Cobi Hamilton, who has 69 catches for 1,077 yards with 4 TD. While South Carolina ranks 27th in the nation in pass defense their secondary was torched in their last game against Tennessee giving up 368 passing yards and 4 TD through the air. While Arkansas has a great passing offense their rushing offense only ranks 102nd in the nation. However, RB Dennis Johnson has combined to rush for 270 yards in his last 2 games. He may have a hard time making it 3 straight games with over 100 yards facing South Carolina and their 14th ranked run defense.

Since the Gamecocks are coming off a bye QB Connor Shaw has had time to rest his injured foot and he should start in this game. Both of his top WR’s are averaging over 15 yards per catch and will be facing an Arkansas pass defense that has really struggled this season and only ranks 112th in the nation.

The Gamecocks will be without star RB Marcus Lattimore for the rest of the season, who suffered a season ending knee injury in their last game. Shaw is the 2nd leading rusher on the team and Mike Davis and Kenny Miles may split time in the backfield. While the Razorbacks pass defense has been weak this season they rank a solid 24th in the nation defending the run.

In some betting trends for this SEC match up Arkansas is 1-7 ATS in their last 8 road games, 0-5 ATS vs. a team with a winning record, and they have an Over record of 4-1 in their last 5 road games.

South Carolina is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 home games, 5-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record, and they have an Over record of 4-1 in their last 5 games.

Jason’s Pick: The Gamecocks have won 10 straight at home and after this game it will be 11, but Wilson will have a good game and Arkansas will make it close and cover the spread.
