ASU Sun Devils vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish Betting Odds | Free NCAAF Predictions

Sun Devils vs Fighting Irish College Football Free Pick

While Notre Dame is an independent school, they still have A LOT to prove after the thrashing they got in the BCS National Championship to end last season. Arizona State on the other hand is trying to capitalize on a newly wide-open Pac-12 South and get their foot back in the door when it comes to dominant football in the west.

After the high scoring beatdown of USC last week, Arizona State proves the Pac-12 South is in rebuilding mode and they have a chance to make a move towards the top. With USC faltering and UCLA stocking up, now is the time to capitalize.

The Fighting Irish have dropped 2 already this season against big time opponents Michigan and Oklahoma.

Arizona State

Arizona State is coming into this neutral site affair riding the incredible high after shocking USC with a 62-41 win last week. Big wins aren’t shock this season as the Sun Devils also felled Wisconsin earlier in the year in a close game.

Todd Graham’s squad has become more well rounded than we have seen in recent years, after taking to the air AND ground to rack up 505 yards of offense per game. Quarterback Taylor Kelly has been electric, going 105 of 171 for 1,370 yards, 11 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. He also has 124 yards rushing.

Kelly’s biggest target has been Jaelen Strong, who has 31 grabs for 433 yards and 3 touchdowns. Also over 200 yards on the season are D.J. Foster who has 22 carries for 258 yards and a touchdown and Chris Coyle who has 11 grabs for 213 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The biggest offensive weapon, though, might be dual threat running back Marion Grice. On the year, he has 65 carries for 256 yards and 8 touchdowns. He also has 22 catches for 183 yards and 4 touchdowns. Grice currently leads the nation in points per game with 18 and rushing touchdowns with his 8.

On defense, Chris Young is leading the way with 29 tackles, 1.5 of them for loss. Leadint the team in interceptions is Alden Darby with 2. Darby also has 19 tackles, 1 for loss, 5 passes defended, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery as well as winning last week’s Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week award.

Notre Dame

Brian Kelly’s defense is nothing like it was last season. The loss of Manti T’eo has been obvious, but they haven’t completely lost it. Then you have Tommy Rees who threw 2 interceptions last week in his first 3 passes against Oklahoma. It’s not the best start, but the Fighting Irish can dig out. If they don’t win out from here, though, they are in danger of losing a shot at a BCS game.

On the season, Rees is 88 of 165 for 1,215 yards, 10 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. He has spread the ball well, with his top 2 receivers just over 300 yards on the season and fielding almost identical stats. TJ Jones has 25 receptions on the year with 346 yards and 3 touchdowns. DaVaris Daniels has 21 receptions for 318 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Notre Dame’s ground attack has been relentless this season, going with a trio of explosive backs. George Atkinson III has 269 yards and 2 touchdowns on the season, Cam McDaniel has 177 yards and 2 touchdowns and Amir Carlisle has 170 yards on the ground.

Jarrett Grace is leading the defense with 37 tackles, including 1 for loss and a pass defense. Carlos Calabrese has 36 tackles, including 4 for loss and a fumble recovery. Bennett Jackson is third in tackles with 31, including 3 for loss, 1 sack, 1 interception and 2 passes defended. Stephon Tuitt leads the team with 2 sacks while 3 different players have an interception.

Prediction: Take the over

While I believe Arizona State will take this game in the end, who doesn’t like to take the over? After last week’s performance, the Sun Devils could cover the over alone, but these 2 combined should have no problem putting up points. ASU piles it on while Notre Dame has struggled to hold steady.
