Alabama Crimson Tide 11/5

Last season’s national champions lost of wealth of talent from that 12-1 squad, but you can rest assured that Nick Saban has a number of underclassman primed to step-up and fill any holes that might exist on either side of the ball. AJ McCarron is back as the Tides’ starting quarterback, but all eyes will be on running back Eddie Lacy, who will try and fill the huge shoes of the departed Trent Richardson. The defense took the biggest hit with just five starters back from last year’s No.1-ranked squad in the nation in points allowed.

LSU Tigers 11/5

Much like Alabama, the Tigers are also in a bit of a rebuilding mode with just 11 starters back from last season’s 13-1 team, but they too have shown the ability to quickly reload through the fine recruiting efforts of Les Miles and his staff. LSU will have All-Conference running back Spencer Ware carrying and catching the ball out of the backfield. It will also have a pair of All-Americans in defensive end Sam Montgomery and cornerback Tyrann Mathieu back in the lineup to help anchor the defense.

Georgia Bulldogs 11/2

Georgia is a 17/10 favorite to win the East Division this season and should have a clear path to the SEC title game if it can get by South Carolina on the road on Oct.6. The Bulldogs will be led on offense by All-Conference quarterback Aaron Murray, but the heart and soul of this team is a defense that returns nine starters from a year ago. Defensive linemen Abry Jones and John Jenkins return up-front while the secondary boasts two All-American players in linebacker Jarvis Jones and free safety Bacarri Rambo. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Arkansas Razorbacks 7/1

Arkansas will once again have to contend with both Alabama and LSU in the West Division to try and earn a shot at playing for the 2012 SEC title, but it has enough talent on either side of the ball to make things interesting especially with both those teams having to come to Fayetteville this season. The Razorbacks return seven starters on offense including All-Conference quarterback Tyler Wilson and All-Conference tail back Dennis Johnson. Arkansas’s defense could be the main question mark heading into the season with only six starters returning from a unit that finished the 2011 regular season ranked 33rd in points allowed.

The odds to win the SEC for the rest of the teams in the East Division are South Carolina at 10/1, Florida at 12/1, Missouri and Tennessee at 35/1, Vanderbilt at 60/1, and Kentucky at 100/1.

The odds to win the SEC for the rest of the teams in the West Division are Auburn at 22/1, Mississippi State at 30/1, Texas A&M at 40/1, and Mississippi at 100/1.
