NCAA Basketball Betting – Wildcats vs Golden Bears

Weber State will look to make it two in a row after putting their recent loss to BYU behind them with a win on Saturday over Southern Utah, when they travel to warmer climates to take on a Cal team that is surging after a 30-point blow up over Jackson State.

Date/Time: 0:30 PM ET, Friday, December 16, 2011
Venue: Haas Pavilion, Berkeley, California
Spread: OFF
Over/Under: OFF

The Wildcats beat the Thunderbirds 84-66, behind a stellar performance from junior guard Damian Lillard who recorded a team season-high in assists with nine on his way to 31 points, including 15 points coming from beyond the 3-point arc.

It was the 30th 20-point game of Lillard’s career as Weber State continued its dominance at home to move to 6-2 on the young season and into sole possession of first place in the Big Sky standings.

Weber State also did a good job with collecting freebies from the charity stripe, leading to an additional 15 points for the Wildcats compared to only five points for the Thunderbirds. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Weber State also drained threes, hitting a total of 27 points from beyond the arc and was dominate in shooting after hitting 56 percent, which was above its 44 percent season average.

Meanwhile over at Haas Pavilion, the Golden Bears were busy mauling the Jackson State Tigers, 73-46, in a game where Cal held a significant edge in shooting and defensive rebounding.

Sophomore guard Allen Crabbe scored 17 points and California (8-2) improved to 7-0 at home while moving into second place behind 8-1 Stanford in the PAC-12 standings.

Crabbe came off the bench after being late for the morning shoot around, but he made an immediate impact with eight first-half points and finished 7 of 13 from the field and grabbed five rebounds.

But it wasn’t a cake walk as Jackson State made a game of it after pulling to within seven points early in the second half, but Cal used a 13-2 run to lead 48-30 with 11:50 remaining.

The Golden Bears outrank the Tigers in every statistical category except for free throwing shooting. So if Cal can stay away from foul trouble in this one, they should come out ahead on the scoreboard while preserving their perfect record at the Haas.
