ATS Matchup Insight | CappersPicks Insider Preview

The Bears (24-11) are 9-9 in the NCAA tournament, making it to a regional final in 2010 only to lose to powerhouse Duke, and advancing past Kentucky in the South Regional final in 2012.

This year could be an even bigger surprise as Baylor looks to regain the momentum that it was carrying after reeling off six consecutive wins to finish the regular season, before being derailed by Iowa State, 74-65 in the Big 12 final to close out the season.

Baylor’s stingy zone defense, which helped claim a win in 10 of its last 12 games, was no match for the Cyclones, who contained stud player Cory Jefferson, who had scored 54 points in a three-game span, but contributed just five point against Iowa State.

He will need to bounce back against the Cornhuskers who are making their first appearance in the tournament since 1998 and their first as a member of the Big Ten.

Much like Baylor, Nebraska (19-12) ended its regular season, losing 71-67 to Ohio State in the Big Ten quarterfinals on Friday.

Again like the Bears, the Cornhuskers’ defense folded against the Buckeyes as LaQuinton Ross poured in 26 points and the Ohio State bench added 21 to dose the Huskers fire.

Until that loss, Nebraska had won eight of its last nine games behind major contributor Terran Petteway, who led the Big Ten in scoring during the regular season with 18.1 points.

Petteway recorded double figures in all but two games in 2013, and will look to continue that run in his first tournament appearance.

Free Pick: Baylor

The Cornhuskers are 0-6 in the NCAA tournament and before departing the Big 12, lost three straight to the Bears.

Nebraska was one of the bigger surprises in the nation this year and has defied the odds for months. But it all ends on Friday.
