Tulsa can conceivably play themselves into the Big Dance if they are able to win their last two games during the regular season, coupled with a deep run in the conference tournament.

Memphis has had its share of ups and downs so far this season, but they may be clicking at the right time. The Tigers have won their last three, all by 20 points or more.

Included in that is a win is a win on Monday against tournament hopeful Central Florida by 29. A devastating blow for UCF, and a huge boost for Josh Pastner’s team.

Memphis will go as sophomore guard, Will Barton goes. He is the unquestionable leader of this group. Barton leads the team in scoring(18.3 ppg), rebounding(8.1 rpg), while still remaining second on the team in assists(2.9 apg).

For Memphis to win this game, or make a deep run in March, they are going to need a second scorer to step up. Freshman, Adonis Thomas could be that outlet as he is oozing with potential. Time will tell if he is able to make the leap. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Meanwhile, a hungry Tulsa team, like Memphis, heavily relies on a sophomore standout in Jordan Clarkson, who leads the team in points and assists.

However, unlike Memphis, Tulsa has a couple of veterans to fall back on just in case the young gun slips up as the game progresses.

A Connecticut transfer, Scottie Haralson is often looked upon to supplant the scoring on the perimeter. He has been quite effective in his role so far, but Tulsa is going to take that next step he has to take his game to another level.

The other member of the team that is there to help out resides in the front court. Steven Idlet is the senior leader, third leading scorer at over ten a game, and third leading rebounded at over five a game.

This particular match-up will likely be decided by the two, main players in Barton and Clarkson. The winner of that little match-up will go a long way in determining the winner overall.
