College Hoops Preview: Tigers vs. Hoyas (Dec. 13)

It’s Memphis vs. Georgetown on Saturday in a college basketball game that could have implications down the road. We preview and predict this NCAA hoops matchup…

NCAAB Memphis vs Georgetown

It’s Memphis vs. Georgetown on Saturday in a college basketball game that could have implications down the road. Both teams are nationally ranked with the Hoyas coming into this game at 19th in the polls and the Tigers coming into this game at 15th in the polls. Memphis is a very good team.    They lost Derrick Rose from their NCAAB Championship Runner-up squad from a year ago, but Coach John Calipari is a master at getting his team ready for games. These fellas have done nothing wrong since the season started going 5 and 1 straight-up and 4 and 2 against the BetUS online betting spread.

The Georgetown Hoyas have also been very good this season. Their coach, John Thompson III, is adept at teaching his kids how a balanced team works. Four out of the five starters for Georgetown average in double figures in scoring but not a single one of the four averages over 14 points a game. That’s balance! Against the BetUS online wagering spread the Hoyas are 2 and 2 but their straight-up record of 5 and 1 should put a smile onto the faces of sports betting fans.

Game-day: 12/13/2008
Tip-off: 2:00 pm est.

Here are my personal online college basketball betting odds for this game:

Memphis Tigers + 2 ½ – 110 Ev O 148 ½ – 110
Georgetown Hoyas – 2 ½ – 110 – 120 U 148 ½ – 110

Here are a few online wagering trends that might help us find a good online bet in this game:

The Memphis Tigers are 7 and 3 against the spread in their last 10 games overall.
The Over is 7 and 0 in the Memphis Tigers last 7 games against a Big East opponent.
The Georgetown Hoyas are 1 and 4 against the spread in their last 5 games following an against the spread victory.
The Under is 48 and 21 in the Georgetown Hoyas last 69 games at home.

The Georgetown Hoyas are a fantastic defensive team. They will definitely slow this game down meaning that the Memphis Tigers are going to have to play a half-court offense.

Where is Memphis’s production coming from in this game? Tyreke Evans averages 24 points a game. After Tyreke only one other player averages double figures in scoring. That would be Antonio Anderson at 12.

To me, the Hoyas simply double-team Evans and work their half-court sets. They should beat the Memphis Tigers by at least four to six points in this game.

I expect the BetUS online wagering odds in this game to be no more than 3 ½ in favor of the Hoyas. That means that the Hoyas should cover against the spread.

Hoyas vs. Tigers NCAAB Prediction:

I’ll be making an online bet that says that they do.
