Get ready for March Madness with our 2009 NCAAB daily gambling matchup previews, picks, and predictions. The North Carolina Tar Heels play the Virginia Cavaliers tonight, we preview and pick this game…

ACC Rivals Collide – Tar Heels vs Cavaliers

The North Carolina Tar Heels (14-2 SU, 6-8 ATS, 8-6 O/U) were upset in their last contest and have dropped two of its last three overall. The Virginia Cavaliers (7-6 SU, 4-4 ATS, 4-4 O/U) also lost the last time they took the floor and have an identical 1-2 mark over their lat three games.

Tonight, the longtime ACC rivals will each look to record a solid victory when they battle at John Paul Jones Arena.

North Carolina lost to Wake Forest 92-89, failing to cover the spread in the BetUS Sportsbook as a 7-point road favorite on Sunday while the combined score went OVER the posted over/under total of 173 points.

Senior forward Danny Green led the Tar Heels with 22 points and fellow senior Tyler Hansbrough added 17 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.

“It’s better now than in March,” Hansbrough said of the Tar Heels’ early struggles. “But you have to understand: It’s early. We’ve got a lot of games to prove ourselves. Hopefully with these next couple of games, we’ll do that. We’ll find out who we are as a team and practice.”

The Cavaliers came up just short in their battle with in-state rival Virginia Tech, losing 78-75 on Saturday but did manage to cover the spread for BetUS NCAA college basketball sports betting enthusiasts as a 7-point road underdog in the BetUS Sportsbook.
The Cavaliers were led by freshman shooting guard Sylven Landesberg who scored 20 points on 7-for-11 shooting from the field. Virginia has just one senior in their rotation and start one sophomore and three freshmen.

Analysis: While the North Carolina Tar Heels are playing on the road in this contest, I like them to bounce back from their recent woes by picking up a thorough victory over the young Cavaliers tonight.

The fact of the matter is that Roy Williams’ team should be pretty ticked off about their recent losses and should beat up on the young Cavaliers handily.
