On the season Villanova is 19-10-1 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 12-16 and North Carolina is 20-12 with an Over/Under record of 15-17.

Villanova beat North Carolina this season back in January.

UNC is led by FW James Michael McAdoo (14.4 ppg 7.4 rpg), but the Wildcats may be more concerned the guards of the Tar Heels in Reggie Bullock and P.J. Hairston, who are a couple of great 3-point shooters. These 2 have combined for 164 3-pointers this season and the Wildcats need to keep these 2 guys from getting open looks from deep.

Villanova had 4 fewer wins than UNC this season, but they did come up with a couple of big wins against Louisville and Syracuse. [ad-6571516]

The Wildcats have a solid outside/inside duo in FW JayVaughn Pinkston *13.1 ppg 4.9 rpg) and G Ryan Arcidiacono (12 ppg), who really striggled in his last game.

Villanova will have to play good D in this game facing a North Carolina team that ranks 14th in the nation in both points per game and rebounds per game. This is especially the case since Nova only ranks 161st in the nation in scoring. If the Tar Heels can score they will be in good shape and not only are the Wildcats not a high scoring team, but they only rank 262nd in the nation in team FG%.

UNC had a down season this season, at least for them, and they were only 1-6 facing teams that were ranked in the top 25.

In some betting trends for this opening round Big Dance game Villanova is 16-7 ATS in their last 23 games overall, -1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record, and they have an Under record of 5-0 in their last 5 non-conference games.

UNC is 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall, 2-5 ATS in their last 7 neutral site games, and they have an Under record of 4-0 in their last 4 neutral site games.

Jason’s Pick: UNC did not have a great season, but have to go with them, as they are UNC and I think they are simply the better team.
